really really good duracel, best from you so far imo, those roots and the hanging foilage are outstanding, a very nice piece indeed
one crit, not really a crit, but i personally would paint out the obvious (darker) leaves at the top right as they look a little too much like the standard leaf brush (they may well not be), and it's just a personal thing because i see them used so often
good job man, well worth the effort, quality imagery |

This is good duracel. I thinkm however, that there's something that could be done about the colors in general. It seems that there is a bit of black/gray mixed into all of them, making it look a little 'muddy' or perhaps not saturated enough. Even the sky seems to have a bit of grain mixed into it. Perhaps you are adding some sort of texture to everything - there isn't really any contrast between textured and non-textured elements. I apologize for the confusion. Keep it up. _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |

Thx all!
Spyro ... yep, maybbe your right ... so well, i think such leaves are the perfect addition in this part - ... so its only damn *grtthfk* this leaf-form is overused.
Johnny, no, the bridge is important ... its only low water for now!
In rainy days the waterline goes above the sand, so you have no chance to get over the river without getting wet.
Tomasis, i start studying next year ... just go through the application-test for design(university).
So well, if someone still needs an artist for a good job i would take the chance instead! Nothing is more important as work-experience in this line of work.(except good work of course!
PS: im 22
Novacaptain, yep, i layed a scanned paper-structure above all to smooth some minor differences in detail and to give this a more natural feeling(so my high use of custombrushes is one think to prevent the clean photoshop look, this is another).
So your critique is absolute right, this goes in cost of the contrast between clean and structured elements. So well, in this case, the sky is the only part had a smooth look before i added the layer ... and the sky has still enough contrast by the blue, imho. So its more good than bad for the texture i added, imho.
So maybe some clean parts yould be nice for the eyes too. _________________ Lars Gtze

duracel, okay I see that you're working hard. I'm one year younger than you so I need to work hard to achieve your artistic level
anyway, good luck with design-application (illustration? or more graphical or industrial) I'm quite confused because most or all of your works looks much of traditional style. maybe it is the personal style as you try to achieve? |
