All I have to say is I am extremely disapointed at the number of submissions for the Anime Extreme logo contest. We had Photoshop 5.5, anime up the wazoo, and some anime art books to give away, but I got ONE, count it ONE, submission. To be honest I couldn't use the one I got as the new AE logo, it just wasn't what I was looking for. So the contest was a complete failure.
I am going to come up with one more contest sometime this week for an artist to win the goods. Wish we would have seen more by way of submitted logos.... oh well.

Sorry. I had planned on doing something but I went on Vaca just after I found out about the contest so I didn't have time to do anything. If you extend the deadline to January 1st, I'll definitely submit a couple, or even a few.

Hey, man, why don't you just pick someone to do your logo and offer them all the goodies? That would spare you of flames after you pick the winner, and frustration cuz nobody enters your contest. I'd work my butt off on a logo if I knew that I'd get PS5.5 for sure.

I just hate entering contests. Sorry...

I agree with Marius, entering contests is just a way to abuse our talents. I mean, we all work our asses off creating something of top quality with the mere hope that we will be rewarded for our efforts... meanwhile the people running the "contests" are recieving tons of beautiful artwork to choose from.

I mean, you don't see contests for doctors or lawyers do you?

Example:

"I NEED A LAWYER TO PLEED MY CASE, I EXPECT LOTS OF ENTRIES, AND AFTER ALL OF YOU COMPLETE AN ENTIRE HEARING, I WILL CHOOSE ONE OF YOU TO GET PAID!"

That's a pretty weak example, but I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from. And Graphic Design Artists are the ONLY profession (virtually) that suffers this kinda of "abuse".

Anyway, that's why I don't enter contests either

heh.

I disagree, everyone in the art profession has to deal with this,. it is our spirit of competition which makes us differenfrom the doctors and lawyer,.

let's see,.. Football players,. they play the game in hopes of winning the superbowl, they have little competitions on the way to show how good they are, and if they're good enough it pays off in the end...

hmm,. writers? .. how many peopledo you thinkwon a scholership to college by entering some form of writing?., millions,...

i like testing myself, and a contest is a way to do this,. especially since i don't have photoshop 5.5 and i believe i can draw well enough to win a copy if i try.

what are you fools talking about? contests are great ways for amateur artists to learn new techniques and challenge themselves. Everybody likes doing art for themselves, so why not work under a set of parameters where you actually have a chance to get something for your work. And mongoose go away, i dont want to hear anymore from you! (sorry, im just bitter cause you went to Sheridan )

Kusanhagi, extend the deadline, and im sure you'll get more submitions. But the problem may not be the contest, but the prizes. After all, i dont know how many places you posted to, but the vast majority of people here already have photoshop(be it illegally or legally) and im sure most people dont bother to submit simply because they dont like anime. If you give me more details again, im make sure it gets noted on 3dpalette which gets quite a few hits aswell.
