i'm having a problem lately that's bugging the hell outta me:

whenever i use custom-made brushes that use angle control set to direction(which means the brush follows the direction of the pen movement), photoshop tends to lock up, forcing me to close the program and lose my work.
this happens with both winXP and win2K although it happens more often on XP. it doesn't happen that often so it's a little hard to troubleshoot.

i wasn't able to google anything on this and was wondering if it seems familiar to any of you?

thanks in advance

torstein, if you're reading this, have you found a solution already?

Odd: if your problem is caused by the scratchdisk i think it's of a different nature. PS does need alot of free space for that, but isn't supposed to crash in any way. maybe it helps to use only one scratchdisk on a partition devoted for that purpose only? this way you don't get any fragmentation. not sure it helps, but it can't hurt to try.

my PS version is illegal Shocked , but i can't imagine this would cause the problem.

thanks for your help

I have a legal copy of Photoshop 7 for my Mac. I am a registered user of Photoshop. I also have "tried out" Photoshop 7 on my Windows XP PC, and most of the brushes won't work. Only a few of the more weirdo brushes will work. The same applies to Photoshop Elements 2 (which I happen to legally own) for the PC. I don't get any crashing or anything like thatthey just won't work.

Oh well. I would like to get the brushes to work on Elements, at the very least. I only "tried out" the full version of Photoshop for the PC so I have no reason to bitch if it won't work. But I own Elements 2.

Good thing that Photoshop 7 works dandy on my Mac, or I'd be pretty peeved. (But I'd like the option of doing more Photoshop on my PC too, you know what I mean?)

after some talk with this dude i'v stoped using the angle control brushes since then my ps didn't crush even once. I suspect the version we are talking about is some pre retail leak or something. Thats why you won't find any official information about this bug cause it was fixed in the official retail.
