Free plugins tend to be crap. I have seen somebody here once post some free ones that had some nice features.

The only plugins I have ever used are all versions of KPT. The only filter in all those that I have found to be extremely robust is KPT5's Shapeshifter. On the surface this filter looks only to be an advanced bevel/reflection light generator. But, once you learn to use this filter's ability to process texture maps it quickly becomes one of the most incredibly realistic texture generators I have ever used. The problem with this is that you would have to know how to create or use texture maps already in order for this filter to reprocess them into something else.

I would not worry about them. Most of the people here barely know how to use Photoshop at all. Most people who use Photoshop here are painters who are either too lazy to mix their own oils, or too lazy to learn to full benefits of Photoshop, or both. As a result they are self-rightous digital painters who use Photoshop to save them time from traditional painting methods and then use traditional painting styles as their scape-goats from investing time in learning how to use Photoshop beyond merely the paintbrush and smudge tool.

Don't get me wrong, alot of the art his here is incredible. I just wonder how good some of it could be if people stopped crying about Photoshop's limitations before they ever learn how the program works. The same thing applies to me, in their defense, because my art would be so much better if I ever invested the time in learning to draw.

Yeah, I get what you mean. But they are right. Lens flares are pretty crappy, but if you can get the right one it can make your image look a lot better. The reason for me wanting a lens flare is because I did a space picture, but there's no sun involved. And that just makes it look stupid Razz And if your wondering why I didn't use a default lens-flare, it's because they don't really suit the space scene.

Thanks for your reply cheney Smile

And thanks for the site V Shane, I did learn something from it Very Happy

if you really really need that flare... one of the KPT sets (don't remember which one, 5 or 6) had a flare generator, where you could create your own flare Smile
