Here's a barbarian I drew a week ago or so. I am not quite done yet, as I want to pen him in photoshop and actually draw in a face. I am also gonna change the sword hilt. Anything else I should change? C&C please.

I like it a lot, nice pen work. My only comment would be the sword style. It just doesn't look right to me in that barbarian's hands. I agree that you should work on the hilt, you might want to mess with the blade style as well. |

Agreed, the blase style is more knights of the round table and less cleave your body in half because Im a 6'7 barbarian! _________________

Well, he isn't your classic barbarian, cause he is well kept and has matching armor instead of the classic rag-tag stuff, so I guess he has a regular paycheck or something. And his face is gonna suggest intelligence and wisdom, instead of bloodlust etc. Guess I am just going for something different. _________________ It has been clinically proven that other people's pain IS funny. |

his upper body seems small compared to his lower body, ie: arms/face. His arms would just barely reach past his waist if he stood up straight. Stand up and let your arms dangle at their side, see how far down your hands reach then look at the barbarian. I agree with the others on the sword, he might have all the qualities you say being intelligent well kept groomed barbaric guy.....but Unless you can draw all those qualities in your picture...like put him in a Library with attendants buffing his armor..................err....if you did that then he prolly wouldnt be standing there about to lopp an attendants head off.
Also the sword right past the hilt....is much to thin. The sword if it hit anyone would just pop right off at the hilt. I realize your sword is fantasy and you want the slim part near the hilt, but that is just too slim to hold that large of a blade.
Keep up the good work, lets see what you come up with next _________________ Sumimasen?!?! Nanpa anyone? |

Believe me Malorum, I ain't going for any sort of realism . I agree with the sword, and I will try and think of a better design, with the same aesthetic appeal (at least to me ) As for the proportions, I am exaggerating them more than a little. I will try to fix the arms though, but the perspective on him is a bit extreme, as you can see the instep of his boots, but you are also looking at his face from the bottom side, so the arm length would appear a bit shortened due to the perspective. Thnx for the tips guys, I will try and get to work on this tonight, and fix it up a bit. _________________ It has been clinically proven that other people's pain IS funny. |
