Goodness, these are dope.
The strutting bassline in 'Change of Venue' moves like a big bassy moving thing. I lurve it.
You're telling me you all the musical parts and drum hits, swing and all, with nary a quantizated note event? Impressive... and inspiring.
What's your studio setup like? Got any pics? |

Change of Venue has killer bassline. I also love those big sweeping pad sounds. You and Waylon do my favorite kinds of electronica. Loki does it pretty slick too.
I need to get my ass back into making electronic music again. I've been away for too long. . .. |

Huge thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it.
Bob Loblaw: I didn't mean to suggest that I actually performed the parts live . . . the only keyboard I can play realtime is an IBM I'm 100% software-based. I love the sounds of certain pieces of analogue gear, but having grown up during the PC revolution, computers just seem like my natural creative outlet (and they're a hell of a lot cheaper than even a modest hardware-based studio). I currently use Orion Pro as my sequencer and for effects. I've not found any piece of software that hides its digital nature as well as Orion, though it took me a couple years of using it before I found a workflow that let me compose the way I used to do it in Impulse Tracker.
For these tracks, I mostly used Synapse Audio's Junglist VSTi soft-synth for my chords and pads, the Synapse Wasp for basses, and the Lin RM-III for drums.
Here's my "studio", such as it is:
(drafting tables make the best computer desks)
The monitors are bi-amplified Alesis M1 Active Mk2s.
Lunatique: Thanks man. And yeah, try to get some new tunes going, if only for yourself. I find that composing music can be a nice switch from stressing out about illustration. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

I jest only out of love for the bum.
But to get back to that wicked thing called relevance, I dig the tracks. I'm especially impressed that you didn't use any samples. There's just something satisfying about listening to 100% home-grown music. _________________ QED, sort of. |
