Hey guys
I am busy doing an elf woman. Used materials for now are hb,3b,4b,5b cause I dont have any higher:D . I think that the face is too thin right know, even for an elf , so Ill alter that.
I have made some more studies of the skull and muscles of the head and for know I made them way to noticeble, but I will alter that soon.
The body, which you guys dont se completely has been turned a bit towards the viewer, the head remains in a side view. I would like some comments if I did the neck muscles right. I used reference, but had to improvise cause I only had reference of a twisted body, but it also had a twisted head, mine doesnt ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)
Thx in advance

nice shading, but the proportions in the face don't seem very elflike to me (big mouth, big chin, and small nose), also the shade right next to her mouth is so broad it makes her seem older and uglier.. _________________ Tingalingaling, dance style an swing, DJ ya suckah with da freestyle rabbin!

If you can try buy Figuare drawing book by Ron Tinner, wonderfull book, and a very good book with face theory. But if you can't heres my tip, roll up a piece of play dough into roughly a face shape. Now image the facial features on the dough and gently squeeze the dough width and /or length and as the dough shapes so do the facial features / structure. If you like i'll gladly scan you a faces pages from my sketch pad.
EDIT:
I found this image on my computer. Its a page from a scrap book i keep at work.

Look, there are some anathomic problems with the face:

And another thing: do not start with the shading untill You sketch the face/body/orwhatever properly. _________________ ..:: Yaseck ::.. |

The whole head is squeezed in and the face is too flat. The profile of a head should fit in a square -- same distance from back of head to front of face (not including the nose) as from chin to top of head. Bring the lower lip a bit further forward than the chin, the upper lip a bit further forward than that, and the nose even further.
One other thing that's bothering me is the shading on the jaw. Toward the bottom, it gets light again, almost as light as the cheekbones, forehead, etc. This makes it look like the jaw is flaring out toward the bottom. Go for a gradual darkening from the cheekbone to the bottom of the jaw, with a sharper transition where it turns under to the chin (which you've done nicely already). _________________ funfetus.com |
