This is work in progress...
I'm trying to push myself to do something hyper realistic with 3D. So here's a model I just got done modeling and am in the process of texturing and shading it.
There's something about the eyes that's bothering me and I can't figure out what it is. I like how the skin is turning out though. The full character is about 8,000 poly's. I'm also trying to challenge myself to see how low I can get the poly count while maintaining the realism. Although I'm sure that when I start animating him I'll really find that I need to add some poly's.

I think it looks great but the eyes seem a little small. Try making them a little bigger. Other than that it looks great. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I would like to see him without any cloth on. Totally skin texture.
Love the skin texture on the face. Just watch out for the porpotion especially from the head down to neck (seem little big) and shoulder.
How big of the texture size you are going for? |

the model is pretty good, I especially like the specular higlight around his eyebrows/nose area.
two things jump out at me about the eye.
first the actual structure of the eye seems incorrect, could be the angle you've rendered at but from this view the inner eye seems wrong. (see my reference image)
second the eye doesn't seem wet, it is simply polished. There are many point in the eye which reflect, I think you've gone for more of a Specular highlight, but because the eye is wet, reflections exist all over it.
hmm just thought of a third, there is less detail in the texturing around the eye, that or the map is stretching.
I said lots but really there isn't that much you'd need to change. I'd love to see a closeup wire of the face
cool stuff
oh, the image I used is from www.3d.sk awesome references there |

XIA: Thanks. The texture page for the face is 2000x1500. The clothing will probably be more procedural.
SYZYGY: Thanks for the extensive critique. That's great photo reference, thanks! This really helps. I'll post another image soon. |
