Accomplished Artists,
Hello, I am the founder and director of a small but professionally-oriented computer game development company known as The Winter People. We are currently working full-time on a high resolution console-style 2D RPG for the PC platform, and are in need of eager and talented environment artists/modellers to work on finely rendered 2D and 3D panoramas from provided concept art and descriptions, which will be used for dungeon and town areas in-game.
Panoramas may be created with any tools available to you, and will be imported as 2D .png files. Employed artists will be responsible for creating roughly 3-4 full areas a piece, each consisting of anywhere between 10 and 20 relatively unique panoramas. Many objects, such as furniture, rock formations, trees, etc. may be used multiple times for the same area. It is preferrable that you have comprehensive knowledge of the following programs:
1. 3ds Max, Maya, or Lightwave: necessary for top quality object creation.
2. Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc.: as the general perspective of our project is flat 2D overhead, a knowledge of Photoshop or its equivalent will be required for layout, shading, and lighting of many areas.
Optional -
3. Bryce 3D or other quick pre-rendering programs: preferrable for outdoors, aquatic, or surreal object-based scenes, and quick creation of objects that would otherwise be time consuming (trees, for instance).
Personal Requirements:
--Must be of professional-calibur talent, capable of generating work that can par up to modern game environments.
--Must be able to complete each designated area within 2-3 months of commission.
--Must be able to create a variety of areas and objects, ranging from detailed interiors to lush outdoors areas to surreal/fantasy-type freeform areas.
--Must have experience using and altering photographic textures and images, as use of such public domain third party "shortcuts" will be very beneficial and time-saving for things such as rugs, stained glass, etc.
Payment:
We are offering $500 + 5-10% sales royalties for the entire job. Payment will be given promptly and reliably per completion of each area, or upon partial completion, whichever incremential plan you prefer.
Preview:
We have prepared a small preview package of screenshots and existing media from our project which will be sent to interested applicants per request, should you prefer to gauge the level of our project's quality before accepting the job, and see a few examples of our general environment style.
Additional Considerations:
Our project is roughly equivalent to an R-rated movie in terms of content, and has occasional instances of violence, nudity, and sexuality.
Contact:
Should you be interested, just send a link or zipped package of examples of your environment artwork along with a paragraph or so about yourself, your artistic background, education in the field, etc. to:
[email protected]
You should hear back from us within 3 business days.
Sincerely,
--Nathan Morgan |
