So well, I've been on the Forums here for some months and now finally created an account ^^
I'm looking for an volunteer artist for a browser-based web game. Currently it's in a very early development state. All I can say is that it plays in The Middle Ages ( well that's quite a good description ^^ ) . It's planned as an free game, but it isn't completely sure yet. It could be that the servers get to expensive, then the Game would cost a bit to get the money for the Server
The Artist should draw/paint the Units, which will be Humans at the beginning, later also Hords of Demons etc.
The work won't be paid, so If you are interested and don't expect payment, feel free to email me.
I apologize for my weird English and if it's the wrong Forum here to ask things like that |

well actually, I will do it for free, just for the hell of it, but there is a downside. I can't color to save my life (yet). I am pretty good at lineart though. Just depends if you want a normal artist or someone like Spooge. (good luck ) _________________ It has been clinically proven that other people's pain IS funny. |

As said, It doesn't matter if the Art is colorized or not.
I'm glad that you are interested dfacto, I'll contact you for further information.
Exoudeous : The point is, it's a little project with 2 developers who just can't afford to pay an Artist |

Yea there have been many threads covering these issues where game-developers needs help for free. At first I thought these kind of things was a really good learning source for entering different projects and also to get a feeling about how these game-projects works. But, the downside is that usually you dont get nowhere with the project and very often the game-developers wanna update the game and then takes the artist much spended-time consuming art away to get another artist to help them, and so continues the art-throw away habit. I have been in 4 different free game projects and none of them has gotten anywhere and no-one has continued to use the art. Could be the thing that I am not at a level to be considered to be a pro but then no-one shouldnt be asking for free art either.
Why not give some money from your own pocket just as a boost thing for the artist, it doesnt have to be much but something, even a small sum should be considered since the artist has to give a lot of time for the projects.
I mean if someone is doing a site for you they wanna get paid.
Well some of my experience about the subject. I am not in any game-projects as it is now, I am in one but I think I am gonna quit there too since I made an orc for them which isnt gonna be used, and I spend some hours on it.
ok I have to get back to my laundry now since it is my laundry day today ..hehe, have a nice day. :)

well, i actually don't want money for it one way or another. A two person project is most likely not gonna be able to pay an artist, so its not like I would ask them to shell out money, especially for someone like me who isn't a pro. I just want to do something like this because it will allow the "client" to tell me what to draw and I will have to draw it. I have trouble motivating myself to draw every once in a while and this will get me to draw. Not to mention that it is a learning experience one way or another. _________________ It has been clinically proven that other people's pain IS funny. |

I can understand that you cant afford it, but what the main thing is, if its free, it generaly going to go nowhere and it would have been a waste of an artists time. thats all im saying. Some people may go for that, but i see no point in spending all this time on a project just to have it go nowhere. thats all.
and Dfacto, you have to force yourself to draw everyonce and a while, just casue some guy asks you to draw a picture doesnt mean its gonna get faster or better then it would normaly. Im not looking for art jobs right now cause i still need to work on that too. every now and then i force myself to sit down and draw something all the way trough even if it may not be to my likeing at first. and if you need to be told what to draw that badly, then just do the weekly pic for draw club on these forums. _________________ Visit glitterbugs Secret Forum |

Exoudeous: there are quite many free projects out there that made it, and some are very popular and even good from a quality standpoint (just think of the mod-scene for example). |
