Hi everyone, my first post:
Drawn in macromedia Flash (i've been trying to get into illustrator but I still prefer flash. ug.. workin on it...)
I know the physique is a bit wierd as I had no source image to base it on or anything, but I'm not sure what specifically is wrong with it other than that something about it bothers me. A friend of mine told me there's something wrong with the hips but wasn't able to say what. Anything in particular anyone can see that needs work? Thanks =)

Hate to see artwork with 0 comments.
Theres not much background info but this is what i see. With that lean she has, her right leg (Since you have it in the back.) should have the majority of the body weight resting on it. But, her left leg looks very tense as if to be the one holding the weight of the body.
Also, which ever leg carries the weight, her hip bone on that side will most likely be up higher than the loose legs hip bone. This could be what your friend was seeing but couldn't discribe.
Try putting yourself in that pose you have, see and feel where your weight is or needs to be. You may have to re-adjust the whole pose. I only say that cuse I'm not sure about the background. She could be going down stairs... ??
Nice work for Macro Flash stuff. Haven't messed with any of that.
(A smaller image would have been fine too, I'm guessing that's why you're not getting a lot of feedback. Not everyone has a broadband connection. That took a while to download and I'm on a T1 =) |

Thanks jHof! I really appreciate you taking the time to take a look and let me know where the problems might lie. And I totally see what you're saying. I've always been rather bad at drawing legs in relation to angle of the body.
I guess I didn't realize how big I made the image. It was just that at smaller sizes the detail in the face and eyes are a bit unclear but I guess that doesn't really matter for the purposes of seeing whats wrong with her pose. I'll get working on the changes but for now I'll upload a smaller version of the current image (though I doubt people are going to bother opening the thread again).
Thanks again _________________ "Life is like a box of ACTIVE GRENADES!" |

I don't really know what it is, but there is something, I like it very much though. But something with the legs is a little bit off. And also, this could be just me, could it be that the perspective from the swords is a little bit off ? She holds one sword further away so it should be relatively smaller then the front one, just a thought. I like it already ! _________________

something that always helps me to get the weight and stuff right is doing a line of motion before the drawing
i dunno if there are any tutorials about this but i cant find any...
i just draw a line and draw over, most of the weight gets transferred through this line usually for some reason ah crap im bad at explaining things _________________ YAAAA |
