I'm new to digital art, and I have photoshop 5.5. I am having trouble finding a good color for skin. I have been trying all day to find a skin color but i'm unsuccessful. Would anyone mind to give me a RGB value for a color that is close to human skin? Thanks.

Use the CMYK sliders... Pick out a pink and then make the value for yellow greater than 18% than Magenta (Red). Then you get the perfect tan for skin.

C: 0
M: 20
Y: 36
K: 0

In RGB it'll be:

R:251
G:215
B:165

I *think* CMYK is better for printing and RGB looks better on screen. I learnt that from this graphic design company, when I was on work experience, but they didn't explain it all very well.....
But I'm sure there's much more to it than that. Can anyone help us?

Well, not that I've done any print work, but from what I've read, the colors used in printing are CMYK, so that's what you should use for that. If you're doing an image for on-screen usage, use RGB.

Thanks for RGB and CMYK values for skin color, that helped me out alot...gracias(i'm not spanish)

Also, just out of curiosity, whats the difference between Junior Member and Member? And how do you get the Member title? Iknow this don't apply to this topic but oh well.

No, thats not it. Becuase there isn't even a place to put in a age in the registration. heh....maybe the number of posts or something, the longer you been making posts...sumfin like that. dunno

Yeah, this was covered in a REALLY early post (almost at the start). After posting about 25 times or something, you go up to a Member. You can get to senior member I think, but no one at this board has.

Different people have different coloured skin, for example my skin is a pale vomit green. Most of the world's population is asian, who have either a light brown or golden-tan colour skin. Negroes have a darker brown, where caucasians have a very light pale white/tan sometimes with a pinkish touch.

a little notice here:

european people usually have a little bit green in their normal skin colour.
My teacher in our school told me to paint green on the back and then paint normal skin colour on it, so then the green would multiply to normal skin colour smoothly.
Just check your own arm etc to see that there's a little bit green there.

I don't think it's possible to give a specific RGB value for skin color. In addition to the wide variety of human skin tones, the appearance of human skin can be changed drastically by the color and intensity light which illuminates it. You can really make skin just about any color you can imagine, and the eye will interpret it as just being in a weird light. You just need to experiment case-by-case and find what looks right.

You know, colors in the light scheme are done by additions of different intensities of red, blue and green (that's for your screen)
The printer though uses the substraction scheme, it is a diminution of the light that is reflected by using four colors, cyan, magenta, yellow and K (I'm from Quebec and I speak french so don't know what K stands for) but it is the black level in the color.
Hope verybody got that, and those that didn' know that should listen in their physics class!!
