Hey everyone, I am wanting to learn to paint... Like sijun, and craig mullins style. Can anyone help guide me in the right direction. Where to start? I don't have a wacom yet, but if what should I do if i get some line art. Does anyone have some lineart for me to practice with? Or what not. I would like to do scenery or some type of human-like portraits, i just wanna learn thats all. Any advice and help is great. thanks a bunch.

Using a wacom is really somewhat like a combination of drawing with pencil and painting with watercolor. You DO NOT NEED A WACOM to start learning. To start learning to become a digital painter you need to learn only two things.

1) Learn Photoshop or an equivalent painter program. Disregard what alot of other illustrators tell you in this regard and strongly heed my advise. Learn to filter-fest. Do not call this art, but consider it as practice for better learning to navigate the software. Dispite what other illustrators will tell (have often told me) learning as much as you can about the program does not hurt you as an artist.

2) Learn to draw. You do not need a computer to do this. Draw now and draw often. You do not need a good idea or anything practical. Your drawings do not need to be good. Make doodles and do it often. When you are the least bit comfort with using your hands then buy a drawing book. Books to consider are books on drawing human anatomy, architecture, perspective, shading, lighting, still-lifes, scenery, and other basic topics.

Once you master these two you will have to learn color theory, a bit of art history, and some very minor painterly skills in addition to your fabulous drawing skills. Then you will be on your way to producing the most incredible portfolio to get the best art job on the planet.

Exactly.
Drawing first is a good idea.
Then (or simultaneously) look at tutorials to see what digital approaches there are.
I guess you have seen Dhabih's tutorial!? Craig uses a more painterly approach.

There are many tutorials in Sumaleth's Link Archive
http://www.sumaleth.com/links

Don't start with color (as cheney already mentioned)
Draw/paint from reference while you are learning.

Also read everything you can find about art in general
(for example about composition, perspective and so on)
