Here is a subject that we have all seen before, the hypersleep chamber Hopefully I did it a little differently.

I am trying to integrate the strengths of 2 and 3-d. If it does not have to move, why not? Getting the balance is tricky. There are places that it is clearly geometry.

Well, have at it...

Well, I like it. There's on eniggle, though: The volumetric lights seem to be a bit too uniform, they almost seem to form a grid...

That's bad ass!! It looks like the lights are coming through a grid of iron or whatever, not being a grid - but ohwell. It still looks great.

Well, first of all this picture looks almost real in the small version. But if you goto the bigger one and look at the bottom of the picture, your strokes are very clear. You can see them a little in the smaller image. Is that just your style or a screw up? Anywayz, its an awesome picture!

This is a very nice picture. The only thing that I would suggest being changed are the red/orange (warm colored) lights. The main lights that are seeping through the grid ceiling are blue and add greatly to the effect of the whole cyrogenic sleep theme. The various warm lights seem to counter it, and unless that was your intent, I think that it might fit better with no warm lights. For example, it appears as if the pod the man is stepping into is actually an oven due to the color of the light that is escaping from it. Otherwise, I find this image to be quite spectacular.

I think the colors were well chosen since blue and orange are complementary.

Hey.. VERY impressive.
I was curious, what 3d package did you use for the modelled parts of the image?

!!

That is good! =) Really good!
One observation. I think the light above is suppose to be coming from the sky?

And if you ever look at something like that , it does look white.

Great job man!

Thanks for all your comments! They are all things that I never would have thought of.

The initial 3-d rendering was done in form-z and was just a few tubes. I rerendered the same tubes going into the distance and downward. This is what is so great about 3-d: complex forms correctly drawn. The enemy then becomes the goofy 3-d lighting and the harsh edges where no edges should be.

The lighting is difficult. The vertical god rays area not technically correct, since they imply a point source through an apeture with particles in the air, and what I drew above is not a point source, but a bank of lights. I just thought it looked cool to do it that way.

I used the warm touches to add color contrast so it would not go completely cool.
