The expression is great. I especially like the mouth.
Something about the composition bothers me.
It's kinda like an arrow pointing upwards and out of the picture.
That's where the eye is lead.
I guess you should add anything in the upper half of the image to avoid that.
And the use of black in shadow areas bothers me a little too.
But there's a lot of potential IMO. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

Hello there! Nice creepy picture. Never got round to reading that book though, too long...
Anyway, some critiques: The shading right now still looks a bit rough. I also suggest adding brighter highlights to it all. And also, I think the hair needs refining. Try adding some dark orangy strokes to it, maybe it'll help.
Post more updates, and this'll become a great pic ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Way too much black. It's nearly impossible to read the forms. It seems like you're really only using two shades to render the face with, and blending them together (black for shadow, mid-range gray for light). Ease up on the dark areas. There was a thread in which someone (AndyT I think?) posted some .wpe files of Prometheus creating grayscale faces in OpenCanvas. I think you'd be extremely inspired by watching those, they'd really help you re-visualize this piece. I think you're doing pretty well with it, you just need to look at it a bit differently. |

Hmmm, it is really cool, but he looks kinda sad, or maybe happy...just definately not evil or mean. I'm not sure what you can do to fix it, because I'm not a very good artist, but his eyes make him look really "nice". |
