Not sure if i should put this here or in digital discussions. But since it's not digital, and is something of a work in progress, hopefully no one will mind me posting in the WIP forum.

I made this tutorial earlier today for someone asking for pointers on figure drawing and i just wanted to get some feedback to see if it's clear and concise enough to be worth making public on my webpage.

So if anyone would care to read through it and let me know if i've made any errors (spelling, grammar, etc) or if i need to add or subtract any information, i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch.

Well, looks fine.

I didn't read it though, sorry. I guess thats the trouble with illustrations.

The advice is ok. You can draw the figure in a thousand ways, of course.

However.... just have to say that I personally probably wouldnt begin with the head. I'd just do a gesture sweep, some scribbling maybe, and then go over, and refine.

But like I say.. there are thousands of way to draw. imo. Copying is a lot different then drawing without reference though but still there are some similiraties.

Doh! i actually meant to mention that you didn't have to start with the head but i forgot and only said that it's "usually easier" to start there and gave my reasons why. Not that you'd know either way since you didn't bother to read it Razz. At any rate, I'll be sure to go back in and add that it's not necessary to start at the head as i had originally intended to do. Thanks for reminding me.
*edit* It's been fixed.

I would like it better if i could get some feedback on the text though. Most of the important information is in the words, not the pictures. Those are mearly demonstration since the text wouldn't make sense without them.

Anyone care to help me out on that?

It's a very nicely thought-out and illustrated tutorial, but to be honest, when I think of "gesture drawing," that's not at all how I would define it.

But, Light is right. There are a jillion different ways to draw something, and you've done a very nice job.

Yeah, i think i may have gotten a little carried away as i started concentrating on relationships and how they affect the placement of objects. That's kind of why i wanted some feedback. This is how my gestures have developed after years of doing them and incorporating other things i've learned. Maybe i should have kept it simpler.

Do you think perhaps i should change the title to reflect the fact that it centers more on relationships in drawing and do another, more basic introduction for gestures and use this tutorial as an expanded lesson?

Yes. (I'm sorry, I'm usually so verbose, but "yes" is the complete answer for this!)
