Dhabih, or anyone else that knows. How do you get the effect of the rain splashing on something. Like in the turok 2 image or the image in the tutorial. The effect of it splashing on the arms or ground. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

It looks to be done with lots of semi-random airbrush dots... at least in the Turok Image.

If you look closely at the "broken" image (the last one in the 1998 list, and the tutorial drawing) the rain is done with faint wisps. Guessing from what I know of Dhabih's style, it's all done "by hand" with an airbrush or paintbrush tool.

The way I've done rain in the past (trying to simulate Dhabih's style hehe ) Is defineing a new brush where the bottom is more condence, and as you get towards the top of the brush, looking more like splashes.

Then of course, you can take the route that Dr. Eng did, and blur the edge of the 'rainded' on object into the white from the rain ( or what ever color you choose)

As for the rain itself in the background, theres a couple ways to do it. As seen in Dhab's tutorial, it looks like just white lines, white a diffrent opacity for distance.
Where as on the turok image, it looks like those lines are set to Dodge, or prehaps lighten.

This is an old image I did, trying to duplicate the technique. (don't remember where i got the girl from, but it was B&W.) http://www.badheat.com/rogue.jpg

BTW that gloss on the girl (looks kinda raindropish) is from the plastic wrap filter.. Kinda a fun little tool.

Oh, and if ya'll wanna comment on it, i'd really appreciate it.

Duhroach, you've got this girl from Diablo game.
Just for me flares need to have less rays size and less intensify, because where are no good light source...
