Hello everyone.. I wanted to offer u something, due to the gr8 jobs u made. I need people that are good with designing items like swords and shields in 2d, views and/or (the most important) characters. Why? This is why:
This is generaly what is the idea all about:
Me and my friend (maybe anothe one) started to write a book (Theme: D&D and stuff like this, like LORD OF THE RINGS). Now, the polity and language teachers in our school told that this book has a great potential and that he's wonderful and that they will be glad to help us to bring it to the stores when we finish.
Now, we thought about a great idea: In every some scenes, we can add a picture that describes the situation, place, characters, to do it more tangible and seem to reality.
Of course, the designers will get credit exactly like me and my friends and if we make money from it u will get too!
What do u think? At least try?

Something you may want to know about how book publishing works. Authors don't normally get to pick any of the art for the book. The publishing companies have their own teams of artists and designers who do all of that. So, don't worry about trying to find art for your story, just concentrate on writing it and getting a publisher for it and you'll be just fine. Smile

Well i don't know where "in here" is, but if you are thinking of self-publishing the book, then you will indeed need to get your own art.

However, don't expect people you don't know to do it for free. It's not fair to ask them to, so don't. Now, I'm not trying to be mean, but as a freelance artist, i see these kinds of "help me create my (insert dream here)" posts all the time. It's as though people think that because they call it "free"lancing, it means they can ask artists to work for free and that being part of the creative process should be payment enough. Simply put, it's not.

While it's fine to ask one of your friends to do some art as a favor and then offer them part of whatever proceeds you get, asking complete strangers to do that is, well...it's rude. Everyone has their own dreams and personal projects to chase, even artists. And to ask someone you don't even know to jump in on yours is really asking too much.

Even if you can only offer $10-$15 per drawing, you should at least be willing to pay something for the artists time and effort. If you truly mean to create a book, then you will be best off learning how to approach it professionally right from the start. And that means paying those who do work for you.

To be honest though, self publishing is expensive. You would be much better off writing the book and finding a publisher and let them get the art done for you. You'll make more money and your book is far more likey to actually make it to print.

Oh and, uh...i'm not a man Wink

That's the best response to this type of request that I've ever seen. We should all save it and just copy-paste next time.

One additional thing I would consider:
you present yourself as a writer and a potential client-
in that case I would be very eager to doublecheck my spelling and grammar.

People will judge you by that and part of the decision if they help you or not will depend on it. Many of us worked in those "will get payment as soon as it hits the stores" kind of jobs at least once and I would guess most of us have become a little more careful in the choice of clients for this afterwards.
