Hello all,
I've had 2 good friends in the last 2 days point me to this forum, so I took that at a sign that I should register.
There are a lot of amazing artists here - it's very inspiring to see so much style and creativity.
I've done very little drawing in the last couple of years, so I've put myself on a self-imposed schedule of drawing sessions so I can develop my skills and hopefully fit in around here one day.
So here's my first post, an Earth Elemental. I'd appreciate comments and criticisms.
Glad to be here, looking forward to contributing.

oh i think you'll fit in just fine.
man that is nice. it kinda reminds me of warcraft3.
i really like the facial expression also.
my only crit is that it looks a bit too light in some areas. (ie.under the left armpit.
welcome to sijun! and keep up the good work! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |

Welcome to Sijun toxic frog!! Happy to see you here!
What a start after stopping for few years
Very good colors and atmosphere. I really like the moss under the face.
My only comment would be that some of the leaves toward the light could have been a tad brighter (they usually have that "wet shiny" look to them). |

Very nice! Great mushroompatch he's carrying with him, on his head.
I'd love to see more work by you.
And it's not an LOTR Ent, Ents have roots, not legs... Right? For some reason though, they decided to give them legs in the movie. That's one of the reasons I don't like the film, they changed too much.
Anyway, so yeah... It's more of an Warcraft 3 ancient.
And I like it! |

well by ent i mean "big walking tree thingy"
But yes i suppose it strikes me as more of a WC3 ancient now that you mention it.
Somethings bothering me about the 'dark' leaves...if i can figure it out ill edit this post...
they just dont feel quite like theyre 'in the dark' more like there are just fewer lit leaves on that side of his body...
hmm, very very nice, kudos to you Toxic
*sits back to look at it some more*

Thanks a lot for the feedback, everyone! I hope to learn a lot by getting critiques here, so I really appreciate the responses. I also get a lot out of reading critiques of other people's work - this is a cool place. _________________ Toxic Frog

cool stuff. personally i think hinting at the environment he would be in would help the overall mood of this concept. also, i think a rougher, less airbrushed look would work really well here. i think it might strenghten the shilouete of the charater if the branches coming out if him were not so symetrical. this is pretty nice, ...make it great. _________________ http://mryan.epilogue.net |
