The whole enviromet it is only outlined it will be detailed later on.

I would love to hear some opinions about this concept inkwork this is suposed to be the god of death-life simbolising the duality of life.
he is walking over water (yes he can do that he he)
any way i love to read some opinons about it
(now i have 3 wips to be done, i guess i have enought things to do.)

bw this one it is for an engraving class here at my art school the theme is the dead and i wanted to do something really weird and unconvesional.

the part where the "head" is chopped off and the crosssectionof the neck has a split face on it reminds me of Hedwig and the face duality theme there.

great texture on the god and the water under him, but the tree-things to the left look very flat comparatively. if i just look at the topleft corner, it's a collection of vertical and semi-vertical lines, and i don't know which belongs to which tree. i assume you are going to continue inking it, since the picture is here in the inprogess section, but i wanted to point that area out to you Smile

and yes i will keep developing the image backgroud to avoid that
flat-confusin feel on the trees.
thanks for takeing the time to coment and critic my image.

Thanks Hayao Miyazaki it is one of my favorite image creators i would love to be as good as him some day :=)

This is and update i finished the ink work ill prolly will add some color to the image digitally, just for the fun of it =)
(he can walk over water becase of the duality concept, he is very heavy yet he can be very gentle and a light as a feather =))

(bw this a concept sckech for a way bigger engraving for my class, this for my teacher to see, in my writen paper work were i will put all my arguments regarding this creature =))

dum de dum.. Not much post here like there used to be, and thats okay because looking at too much art gives me a headache.

I really like this piece. I don't really understand the symbolism in it but it's interesting... somewhat mythological

The only thing i noticed and this is a minor thing is that the weighting of th composition seems to be a little "off". I think the trees should be straighter. The curves tend to make it want to "fall over" just a tad bit. If the trees were straight thuogh.. it might tend to "crowd in". So.. just a thoght.

The ink work is great but you might get even better if you can make the elements more unique in the future.

my only comments are: great artwork dude! Love the concept/design of the character himself. I love the rendition to pieces tho it's not final. And i think the compostion is worng/off, just slightly, but hard very/time-consuming to alter none the less unfortunately.

just my opinions. good luck with it!

Light:
dunno if some one will read this but one day i asked a teacher if she thinked that i had some chance at succeding on the ilustration world, she responded:

"you can give more"

untill today every time i fell down, i rember that
becuase it made me fell that she tought that i had potencial, some how your post reminded my that =) just a tought =)

Thanks light i guess i am still an artists striving to see wich influensess should i folow and wich should discard, (i mean i try a bit of every astist style that cought my eye to see what i like it and if there is something usefull that i like on that particular style, while i try to spin it wiht a personal touch Very Happy ) Very Happy

Thanks som much for the advise for the composition,
(i will triy to improve it since this one it is just a tentative concept for my teacher to see (right on tomorrow )

Capt. Fred:
thanks so much for likeing the design of the creature =)
and for the nice words of encourament.

Max,

I'm glad you appreciated my critiques. I decided to do 2 "paint overs" of your work to just to see how t would look for myself.

Here are the 2 versions. You can see the difference well if you put yours and then each of mine beside each other in ACDSEE and cycle back and forth. I made 2 versions because I wasn't sure which clouds I liked beter but I think the dotted ones is better now:

http://light1.home.mindspring.com/copies/paint_overs/JMP1.jpg
http://light1.home.mindspring.com/copies/paint_overs/JMP2.jpg

I didn't paste the pictures here because I didn't like it when people posted pictures in my fine art picture thread. Wink

Max the way I see: I listen to everyone, but I decide what ideas to keep and which to throw away.

eh, I'll critiq it a bit lol

I like the overall idea, but I think u should establish yer main light source a bit better, the light/dark tones arnt'r very noticable except on yer creature..

the tree barq look great, but it looks like it doesnt have a true light source, because the dark tones are not so strong... they feel "medium" dark...
