The theme is "...with sorrow in ones heart"

During this project I have not intended to to pay attention to anatomic rules but to form the bodies to tell the story of a feeling

I really would appreciate your comments according to my purpose...
...and of course whatever crosses your mind! Laughing

...and Charcoal sketch on canvas (...never finished)

...with theese sketches and paintings I am finished although I will for the rest of my life go on working on the theme

i've never heard of charcoal on canvas... you just stretch canvas and draw with charcoal over it?

i think the uncomfortable position of standing on balls of feet, in the first picture really adds to the sadness element. like you're so sad, you're tortured by your body physically, but you don't care...

in the others, where the physical torture element is not so clearly defined, i may be confused that they are, for example, huddling for warmth, or sleeping curled up, or something...

"Ylla" - Im happy over the characterizing of the first picture
and according to the "charcoal sketches on canvas", perhaps its easier to see what I mean if I post them like this...

initial charcoal sketches (...on canvas) and the finished oilpainting

Thnxs for encouraging me!

Using charcoal on a canvas before you paint is the perfered method of most treditonal artist. I don't know why you never heard of this before.
