okie,.
sketch1: constapated bull, it looks like he's trying to stand on highheels <interpretation from the form>,. if you had one of your barbarians stabbing him through the middle of the ribcage it'd look natural,. or so i thinks
sketch2:the right arm and the face don't have a lot of shading but everything else does,. this seems a little misproportionate or something like that,.
sketch3: nice shading,.. the left arm should be brought a little more forward, it looks like the ax would be going through where the body should be
sketch4:forearm is way tooo long
sketch5:again mokeyarms,. but it's a goblin, so i suppose this could be correct?,. i love the shading on this one,. crisp, yet smooth
Sketch6: not sure what to type for this one
sketch7: frazetta/vallejoish style i like
all in all it's great art..

I made coloured picture of that sketch7.jpg.
Not just few hours ago, no, after I had made that sketch, which is something like year ago.
http://grin.kirkkonummi.fi/~beam/sketches/wizcolor.jpg
this is more like painting, no tried to get even near to photorealistic images. :]
because I like to paint with watercolours and other artistic tools, like oil and coal, not just with computer.
So sometimes it's refreshing to making something different style with computer than this mass-produced-photorealistic-stuff.
I recommed everyone to try it, at least once in a lifetime. :]

beam; My only question is ... what are you doing profesionally now? These pics are very nice ... I could knitpick at every little detail, but I'm just curious ... because as I see it you're certainly good enough to be doing concept work.

Grift,
I'm only 17 years old (well in 2 months 18, tho ) and I'm studying arts in Second Senior of Visual Arts. My drawings are at the moment just a hobby, but certainly I want to have a job which has something to do with arts, something like concept stuff, 3d modelling & animation (just started that stuff) and maybe webdesign (done that for 3 years as a freelance job wihtin school) or just something which has something to do with arts. Maybe commercial business AD or something.
Or maybe print stuff. I dunno yet. I'll study first and then we'll see where I can get. |

Nice work Beam! I haven't drawn in about 2 years. And before that I never did it on a regular basis. I can paint/do texture/color/form but I am so out of practice when drawing figures it's not even funny. I see it perfectly in my mind, but I can't even get my hand to communicate... Anyways, love your sketches, keep em comming and try to color a few more of them.
I haven't done anything art related on the PC since June, but I was getting into texture creation. Found it pretty easy to mimic photo source textures. With your drawing skills I suggest concept artist for a game company. That position will never go away, and you won't be replaced by digital camera's as I see will be taking over the industry soon for the FPS area at least.
