So I started to doodle today because I've been sick, and this is what has come out of it! I should doodle more often!
This is only the face, there is a body, but I'll post that later, just to keep you guys in suspence :lol
PS7, and a reference for the face... which is totally different now

Hi
a nice pic and drawing is a good thing to do while you are ill.
But there's something strange about that pic.... the perspective doesn't seem to be right.. I mean that the hair looks really really strange...
And I think that the shape of the eyes isn't right... but perhaps it's me.... perhaps you wanted them to look like that....
bye,

hi
yeah it's much better now...! i like it much more... but there's still something wrong... I think that the hair over the eyes is wrong.. it's too much... in my opinion it would look better without it... (I dunno how that part of the hair is called.. I mean the short hair there...)
Why not trying to put that away perhaps? if you've done that tell me how it looks like, I'm very interested in it...
btw the hair looks great, very good job ... it's just that part there ... hm really think it's kinda "strange"

They're one eye space away where they should be. It could be the harsh shading I have near the fleshy part near the eye (whatever you want to call that) _________________ Whoa, so if I type in here the text will appear in my sig? |

Hmm...they may be the right distance apart, but her right (our left) eye is much closer to her nose than her other one, which tends to give the whole face a sorta skewed look.
Dig that hair and funky neck piece though. |

I think she's got too less forehead. The right (our left) eye should be moved a bit to the left, and the shape of the eyes doesn't seem the look right. I think the nose too has the wrong shape. _________________ The truth hurts. Sure not as much as jumping onto your bike with the seat missing, but it hurts. |

hi, I'ma say my 2 cents. To me it looks like her left which is our right, of her face is way 2 wide for this view, it should be cut down a bit, because when u'r in that 2/3 perspective u wont have both sides of the face be the same width. Also the eyes ARE the wrong shape, eye's arn't rlly lemon shaped but i cant describe how they are, try to juss get a magazine or somethin around the house and draw a few sketches of the eyes to get the hang of it and the right idea, then go and do it on this biatch! ![Razz](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

well, here's the reference, so blame that. See? The eyes are the same.
if any thing is really off, I did the neck just a little bit too wide. But really not much. And I know what you're thinking, no, this is not a trace. I looked at it and sketched it.
edit: I did fix the eye problem though. I just need to post an update when I have done more with my picture. _________________ Whoa, so if I type in here the text will appear in my sig? |

Hmm..looking at the ref and your picture, the problem actually seems to be the nose. Your nose is much narrower than the photo reference, thereby giving the impression that one eye is closer to the nose than the other... |

I see what you mean, thanks for pointing that out.
Okay, that's easily fixable.
Here's my new problem:
I'm in a little pickle here. I'm wondering if I should leave the hands uncovered or leave it like it is (of course shade them ). Right now they aren't placed correctly, but it gives you the jist of how things are going to be- if I decide to do it this way.
There are going to be chains inbetween the arms of course. _________________ Whoa, so if I type in here the text will appear in my sig? |

hey, the face looks alot better now bro, the hands I think u should play around with, i think they look good where they are now, but mby not in that look with the fists.
I saw something, yer CHIN! I think thats whats throwin the face otta balance, look at the referance pic, her chin u can visible see is leading into her neck through the are under the chin. At first I thought it was the right (our left) jaw that was the problem, but its the chin cuz I think u extended it instead of makin the viewer c how it curves under. Uhh....I think this'll be confusing to ya, but look at da chin/under chin area in yer ref. pic and then the one u'r doin, I think u might know what I'm talkin about? I think this is the reason the face looks a bit off...
agree n e one? |

Yeah, that's what it was, Solidus. Upon lots of other crits I've came to this point right now which I think is a hojillion times better, IMHO.

I think you should have copied the face more accurately.
Iddi was right. The left eye is too close to the nose and the reference is proof.
The shapes of the eyes are not copied accurately either.
The lighting is completely different. That makes the whole shape of the head read wrong.
There's no black in the original.
The perspective looks wrong ... just look at the chin. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

ahahahahahahahahaha, the one with the arms infront of the body is the funniest thing i've seen in a while. not to be mean, but really, that's so mr. burns-like its alarming.
problem with the picture is that the hair starts too low, it makes her head look short. i'm not really sure what's up with the hair on the right side of the picture, something about the way its overlayed makes it look off. the rendering on the hair is nice though in the rest of it. |

This is too dark--too much black.
I think it's got a nice "mood" to it, but see how it looks reversed--flip the picture in Photoshop so it's like a mirror image. You'll see how some things look "wonky." They often do when you are drawing a portrait. (I always do a mirror image thing on my drawings to catch flaws. It's very helpful.)
The nose is too long in your drawing. She's looking up--perspective is making her nose shorter.
I think it's got a nice feel to it, but some more work needs to be done on the proportions of the face. _________________ Madness takes its toll - please have exact change. |
