theres nothing wrong with any technic anyone uses.
But check the knee area, add a floor and some special lighting to catch a good mood to make an interesting art.
and repost ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I've made 2 crappy pictures with labels to illustrate some of my ideas:
http://light1.home.mindspring.com/copies/paint_overs/COMP2.jpg
1. The body is not concave. She is thrusting her belly out. That line should be straight or curved outward. Notice the tits don't line up either. Draw a line through them. Imagine her body as a balloon. You can't really poke it in even if it seems that way.
2. Work on this area of the body. Same as above applies here. Notice the smooth and graceful curve of the arm in photo. Notice the conistency of the width of the arm in photo (I tried to illustrate that with the lines over arm). Consistent widths and smooth curves define the arm.
3. The leg is a pipe. Notice the white line I drew the leg. It doesn't have that curve.
Additional notice the purple line under her right arm pit. Yours is straight and it should be curved.
I have another picture to show some other ideas:
http://light1.home.mindspring.com/copies/paint_overs/COMP1.jpg
Here I have drawn with a mouse some of the basic shapes underling her body. Especially notice how the basic shapes hold the figure together.
I've also shown closer how the legs should be placed. Notice her heel almost is hafl-way between her hand.
Key Ideas:
* Draw first with basic shapes to block in figure
* Work on sketching more and get a good sketch to start with before painting
* Observe consistency of widths, and smooth curve lines.
* See how the human body is like a balloon. Think of bone, skin, fat, and muscle. (She has a very long figure in the photo too)
Other tips: mirror image while you work.
Look at my post critiques to learn more, and find more of my ideas (ignore the cat-fighting).
All above is my opinions. Feel free to disregard what you like. |

is she related to georgia o'keefe?
it's a good WIP, btw. you just need to clarify your shapes (and follow others' crits, of course ) so that you can tell that she's got muscles and bones and organs and stuff inside... like, for example, her knee needs to look that way, and not like it's just a bend in a tube of flesh. i hope that wasn't too mean sounding a comment... _________________ Ylla's Art Gallery
