This is an old one of mine (well, not that old I guess)
http://fluxion.ii.net/images/gazpic.htm
have a look
I'll probably hear it about the disembodied eye and other things, but it's meant to be Garrett, from Thief: The Dark Project and so it's somewhat dark. (high gamma correction or brightness ruins any effect it might have too).

The twine and the feather parts are beautifully done... the face is well shaded, but lacks any real detail. I'd love to see as much detail as is put into the twine and feather in the face and the wood of the arrow. The cloth on the hood is extremely sharp, but the glove seems oddly blurred.
Still a nice image though.

Yeah, the face needs little tuning and its going to be perfect. The feathers are beatiful, amazingly done! Same as the twine and the bow. But the eye.. there is something unnatural about it, seems like a glass eye or something. But it still a nice pic. |

Thankin' Y'all
this is funny, I consider the bow string and arrow to be hacks done cheaply that detract from the rest of it. (the string worked out pretty good though)
The glove leather is tricky, I couldn't really figure out how to give a nice worn leather look. Oh well.
About the face; I have no idea how to make it more detailed, not even a little.
I thought of adding wrinkles and the odd blemish but it just seemed to make it look like I never finished it off properly. then I'd have to keep going and be well on the way to 'Jack' style skin. Which is great, but not what I wanted at all.
Any examples of great face detail out there?

Great job on the feathers! The skintones and lighting/shading on the guy need to be tweaked somewhat too for that added realism. |
