Hey guys

Its been quite some time since I posted anything ( descent). Way too long a time in my opinion. I have been researching quite some time, mostly at my cousins who is an amazing talent in drawing and I found a new shading technique which is based on smudging. To my surprise it can create very nice effects which are way more realistic than my previous attempts, but I still have to learn a lot about it and a way to get rid of the grainy look.

I chose to try this technique out on a childs face using some photo reference. Its going to be part of a huge project, which I will start when I am at my best( about 10-15 years from now). The project will be about my brothers dead nine years ago and it will concern afterlife and stuff. I still have to develop the story and do a lot of work but I intend to start seriously when I have gained more abilities.

So I realy hope to get some comments from you guys on this drawing which is more an experiment than an art piece. I left the inside of the mouth open on purpose.

Thx in advance

Greetz Max4d

PS, oh yeah, I think I made the eyes a bit to big.

Hey guys

I made another childs face, this time in a side view. I realy hope to ge comment on this one too. Its a bit sloppy and I know about the hideous black lines, but I didnt have the time to smudge them out and quite frankly, I dont give a ****.

Thx in advance

First of, calm down.
You dont own our opinions!

These images looks fine to me.
Its art, and when looking at these images I find you've got a personal way of drawing, such things I personally value highly. keep it up!

When it comes to c&c I have a few...

I cant relate to were the light is coming from in your images.
Even if one has his own style of drawing, one has to maintain the basic physics of drawing.

*studdy lighting*

when it comes to painting children, do not define as many shapes as you figure. Go for simple, and build character from there.
-
Your propotions are totally wackad at places. It is as if you mixed propotions from an adult face and mixed it with a childs.

*Studdy what makes the difference from beeing a child, teenager and adults*

thats far more important than finding a good way of shading...

take care dude Laughing

Hey thx

First off, if i get 350 views and no comments, i get ticked off because that is unfair.

I do understand your comments and such i know that my lightning is way off and i still have to learn allot about it.

Its hard work getting used to act forumwize! Wink

I myself did post something in the general forum here at sijun a few days ago, and never had any reply.
I re-read what I'd been writing and it all made sence. It was a stupid post which I could have done in research on google instead (which i did).

anyhow, take care dude and keep it up! Smile
