Since you took so much time to think of an original user name I'll help. Open your favorite internet browser. Go to www.google.com. Use their insanely useful image search to search for... MARBLE. Find a decent picture. Now, while looking at that picture, paint what you see as faithfully as you can manage. Done! This technique works with almost anything that you're having trouble drawing. |

I created this from scratch in Photoshop little more than 2 years ago.
http://www.createdbycheney.com/raster06.jpg
I made the textures using textures in channels. The polished area texture was made from noise filter with motion blur in a channel. The rough area texture was made from a manipulated difference cloud filter in a channel. I filled this selection into a new layer with black. Then I set it a layer mode of "lighten" to make it disappear. After the black mess was made invisible I set a bevel to this layer. The linear marble like texture was created from a linear render in the KPT3 Texture Explorer (this plugin only works in PS5 and PS6). The renderd this into yet another channel.
So each texture was basicly a series of stacked layers where each layer was filled from a selected created in a channel. You can see the other seven panels created in this series in a real big image:
