Broken Shortcuts
There are reasons why shortcuts exist. And in this world,
you may chose it once. There is something sinister and
magical that few live to tell.

I'm gonna release 3 versions. Left and Right part (50% each).
And one full sized. Release size: 1600x1200.
Painted for A3 print, 40x30 cm - 300 dpi.
Painted in Adobe Photoshop 7.0
Painted in 17 hours.

Hope you like..

I love the way you did the vegetation, beautiful. And the window looks good too, I like the reflection. However, I feel like the walls of the dwelling (are they supposed to be bark?) are a bit ambiguous on texture, especially when compared to the foliage. Perhaps define that texture a bit more? The second thing that's bugging me is the area of smooth ground from the bottom of the door downwards. It looks like hard packed clay to me. Is that what you intended? It just doesn't seem as natural as it could. Maybe add some more vegetation, or variance in terrain (swampy areas?) My last little bit of picking (yes, don't get me wrong, I really like this image) is the overall mood...for a sinister shortcut -this image looks maybe a little too happy and magical. Below is just a little messing around I did with the colors -trying to make it a bit more sinister (keyword: trying. What do you think?). I realize that not everyone likes other people mucking around with their art, so please let me know if you want me to take these paintovers down. Anyway, great work =)

Paintover (version 1) (kinda red)

Paintover (version 2) (more eire?)

Thanks all your comments, i love cc... it helps me learn and grow as
an artist. I will make more textures on the wood and add some more texture to the flat ground.

However the mood sort of depends on the image in whole.
This is 50% of the big painting. I can quickly change the mood
in the painting, giving it a happy happy feeling or a glowing fantasy.
But i think i settled in the "evning".. whats coming next mood.
Here is the image in whole, a little earlier edition. When its done
i'll resubmit the parts.

Thanks again for the tips and comments!
