The image search on Google is the best place to find texture inspiration. I often search google to find examples of inspiration and realism, so that when I make the textures myself they feel more real.

I would not try to find super high resolution textures, because they are hard to find. Its easier, quicker, and looks better when you make the textures to fit your image.

But, you can find some very large textures at the Deviantart texture dump.

If you want to learn to create your own textures I strongly suggest you learn to use the alpha channel feature in Photoshop. Everything else in Photoshop is secondary to channels when it comes to making textures. By everything else I mean paintbrush tool, other tools, filters, layers, guides, selections, paths, and literally everything else. Of course you will have to use these other aspects of the program from the paintbrush, or filters, or selections, or other features to fill the channel. All I mean by this is that you should learn the techniques and limitations of channels if you want to create textures of your own.

I am going to attempt to explain what a channel is in few words as possible. A channel the programs interpretation of a saved selection, including variance in opacity, using a 100 point grey scale on a black area. The black represents 0% selected, the solid white areas represent 100% selected, and the grey areas represent a partial opacity selection depending on the color number for that particular grey. To get a brief idea try using the difference cloud filter in a new blank channel.

To load a channel into a selection (this is, after all, the whole purpose of a channel), merely click and hold on the specific channel in the channel window, and drag this channel down to the bottom of the channel window to the O marked button. Loading a channel is only slightly more complicated than moving layers around in the layer order.

Keep in mind that more than one channel can be used to quickly create more realistic textures. I strongly suggest that you fill each selection on its own layer for easier editing or possible deletion.

Textures are easy to create. I promise this, because its really the only thing I feel I do well as a digital artist. I am a pretty crappy digital artist, so if I can do it then anybody else should be able to create textures no less realistic than mine. I hope this helps atleast somebody.
