Believe me, it was a challenge not to use color in this. I really want the "final version" of this picture to be portfolio quality, so any crits or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The ultimate goal is to perhaps get some RPG work (i.e., beef up my portfolio so it has what some of those companies are looking for) because I know a lot of that work is grayscale. I'm thinking I should do a couple more pictures in this style after I'm done with this one. If anyone has suggestions on what type of creatuers/characters/scenery it would be good to do next, please do let me know. Thanks.
Not full size, but a bit bigger than above.
Random "close-ups"
Elf's Face
Human's Face
Mage's Face _________________ "I art in your general direction!" |

It's good, I like it; my main cirt would have to be that it would perhaps be wise not to try so hard to make it perfect. One can easily tell you've spent quite some effort in getting the various details right, but personally I think it would look better if it had a bit more 'loose' style to it.
Is the pattern on the Mage's clothes simply an overlayed texture? In that case, removing it would be better since it forces the perspective. If it isn't you might want to try to make it flow around the Mage's body slightly more.
Good luck! |
