I do a lot of my work digitally, I do however always start with a sketch on paper. Problem being I don't have a scanner.

What specs should I look for in a scanner.

Thanks.

Ah, just go ahead and get a Wacom. You'll get used to sketching on it, and once you do it'll make your digital stuff much, much better.

There are dozens of other review sites like this you could check out, just google it. For specifications, someone else could probably help with that, I'm not as well educated.

I got mine refurbished, and enjoyed the deals, juts check out reviews and user's comments and critiques.

Good luck.

I've got a WACOm tablet, I just can't seem to get used to it properly.

I've had it for quite sometime too, suppose i'll just have to keep practising.

But whilst I am practising, I would also like to still create images. So I will still get a scanner aswell. When I get some moeny Razz

And thanks tilokani, I'll have a look straight away Smile

Whatever you do don't get anything too cheap or too expensive. I'd an HP scanner..which was very expensive...and then I got Canon scanner which was a cheapy. Although it's good scanner the bed was 8.5x11. And still I have a Microtek. http://www.microtekusa.com/smx12usl.html
which I'm very happy with and it's got 8.5x14 bed which is a major help, especially if you like to draw big and need to scan. I like this model since it's a good price/features/resolution/dpi/size it can scan. I recommend it...I scan all of drawings with it. The drawings on my site are scanned with the Microtek. Check especially the blue pencil drawings.....it came out crisp.
Hope this helps. My site: www.edleeart.com

I have been putting a piece of paper on top of my tablet, which has helped me transition from paper to digital. It was too smooth, so I had trouble getting used to it. Now I just sketch digitally.

ok, ok... so I've been dinking a bit tonight.... but I'll still suggest you stay the hell away from the UMAX brand of scanners. The equipment is decent, but now for the newest version of their helper-software you have to pay like $15.00 US. I'm a broke-ass Purdue sudent that really doesn't want to pay out another $15.00 after buying a brand new laptop. "F" Umax... they try o play like they're some big co. They have a small , tiny office somewhere in Texas I think. GRRR... AND BY THE WAY... If anyone is stuck with a UMAX scanner and needs a patch for the OS upgrade try their british sites. Its free there.... kill the US UMAX counterpart! OI!!!!

I love my Epson scanner. I have had a few Epson scanners and so far they've never let me down.
