Hey everyone,
I just recently got into digital art.. at least, with the use of a tablet and Photoshop, and this is/was my first attempt at creating hair. I was a concept artist at id 4 years ago, but I was only using traditional methods for character design (ie. a pencil and paper :P) .. anyway, any feedback would be nice.
Thanks in advance : )

That's good hair, the lighting on the top is nice, but it probably needs some more definition and shading in the bottom.
And it looks kinda concaving in the bottom middle of the hair. Overall ---> GOOD!

Cool, hair!
Here's a tip: To make the strands look a lot thinner, pick the dodge tool, about 60-70% opacity, and using the smallest non-feathered brush, draw strands on top of what you got now.
here's what I came up with... i don't know if you like it:

You really were a concept artist at id?
Amazing. Do you work at any game related company right now? Where can I see some sketches of yours while at id or whenever. I love drawing, the usual thing, pencil and paper. I'm kinda new to digital drawing and all that, trying to get used to Photoshop. (which btw, I use it in a weird way, no layers, nothing, just the traditional brush/airbrush/dodge/burn/etc) By the way, how did you get into such a respected game company as id is? I mean, for me the guys behind id are GODS.
heh, sorry about all these questions, take care. |
