This is Firebrand, the "Red Blaze"/"Red Destroyer" from the Gargoyles Quest video game series (also Ghosts n Goblins)

Feels like it could use something more. I'm not sure what, I'm alot closer to finishing this than I thought would be already, but still...

The mouth, eyes, head, and cloak-like wings are supposed to be like that. If you ever played the series (especially Demon's Crest) you'll probably get the references.

C&C/paintover/tomatos welcome!

the light is in the clouds behind and above him

only crits are, the anatomy is a little off, such as with triceps. And the demon's legs are we way off. knee caps should be a little higher and seeing as one leg is bent and the other is not it is impossible for both legs to reach the same point

If the lightsource is above him, we should see highlights on the top of the head, arms and legs, but they're not there. If the source is behind him only, we shouldn't be able to see most of his body because the wings are blocking it.

The lightsource is actually his wings, being on fire and all (guess that's not apparent). I know fire doesn't just exist strictly behind wings, but it's supposed to be a symbolic thing:

I've been getting a bunch of mixed opinions as to how much of his body should be lit up, it was originally silhouetted. I've been tinkering with it so much I'm getting ready to just drop and bedone with it.

An update:

Though probably not much of a noticeable difference other than subtle details.
