Hey I'm kindof new at CG.. I'm trying to do a realistic render of this picture.. Here's my progress so far: http://www.joshjenkins.com/help.jpg
that shows the original and my version.. um my main question is whats the best way to make the outline of like the nose and eye stick out more and yet look real? _________________ >> http://www.joshjenkins.com |

why dont you start off with a sketch to get the proportions in place. then get to coloring. its hard to do both at once (ie, color selection and proportions).
are you picking the colors with the eyedrop tool? its better not to. try to make a palette with the colors you intend to use by looking at the image.
as for proportions, its really better to sketch first. the eye is very very small. as for your question. its all about colors and contrast. to make something stick out, it generally has to contrast its surrounding.
my suggestion for you is this: step by step. |

Inorder to make things stick out and look more realistic, you must understand this principal: "lines" only exist in nature as the boudary in which lights meets dark. There are no black lines in nature.
If you really understand this, then u should be able to figure out a way in which u can make the lighting in ur pic more believable. But thats just lighting. Right now, that whole face is unproportioned and stuff, so i suggest goin back and sketch the girls face, then scan it in and paint over it. gl! _________________ -Chase |
