I must say, impressive show, loved the set-list he (dave) played, with a selection of songs from his One By One album (of course), and older songs such as Everlong, Monkey Wrench and others, and one of my absolute favourite songs acoustically, Times Like These. And Dave ain't no musician who just goes up onto stage and plays and gets off, he talks to you, he interacts with the audience, which is always really cool, even if it isn't to you directly (even better when it is). Matthew Good is like that also, he just talks and talks, and tells jokes, which is so good. And this is as close as I will ever get to Nirvana. Too bad he doesnt play any covers of Nirvana though (or does he?) Would it even be considered a 'cover' since Dave was a part of Nirvana? HMmmm, noodle scratcher it is.
Tak = tired, tak go play some guitar and maybe watch some 6-o'clock news now. Tak = happy. _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |

I actually consider Everlong to be one of the best songs ever made, I can never grow tired of that song, its an amazing tune.
I also like when bands and performers interact more with the audience, there are a lot of swedish bands doing that so that rocks, and yeah Foo Fighters rocks big time!!!. :D
see you

rad guess the show happening around here was sold out in a day or two. know what you mean, about them being sincere. you can tell it in their music, kind of the same vibe i get about radiohead [we'll see how that show goes.. woot]. i'll never forget the time my friends and i saw weezer in concert. what a turn off. they just sat there and played, and insulted the audience. they're rockers and that's what they do, but still. jeez. _________________ sketchblog |

You've obviously never heard of Lawrence Welk.

I wouldn't mind seeing radiohead. I know their Toronto show sold out insanely quick, i heard it was sold out either within an hour, or within a few hours. I just sorta started listening to them, bought their newest CD, my first radiohead album, not bad I must say.
And Weezer was bad?!?!? That's disappointing. They're on my "To see live in concert" list. How long ago was this? Because if it was a while ago, maybe they'll change their performance (hopefully so) by the time I get to see them. But I can understand how they would suck if they were doing the things you say they did. Live concerts are good and all, but the interaction makes it so much better and makes you feel part of it, which is always a good thing. _________________ Just remember, when in doubt, even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. |

I saw Descendents live back in 96 or 97 I think it was, they can truly rock and they performed song after song without nearly any breaks, that was the coolest concert I have seen. Descendents ruled. :)
Ahh yeah and Rage Against the machine back in 97, they were amazing live. Dont think Audioslave is that good thou.

Tomorrow, I'm going to see Rodney Branigan. If you get the chance to see him (chances are slim), SEE HIM NOW. It will be the best show you have ever seen.
Nothing like the ambiance of a dusty bar to set the mood for a guy playing the hell out of two guitars-- at the same time. _________________ QED, sort of. |

I've seen them twice now(95 and 02) and both times were rather disappointing. It is true, Rivers just mumbles incoherantly and the band just plays...no expression, no fun..just play. I'll never see them live again. Love the band, hate the show. |

I get to go see them tonight in Seattle. Yay!
Sad story.
I also had a chance to go see them play a small EndSession show on the local radio station here in Seattle. But either the radio station or the Foos changed the time at the last farcking minute... So me boss says nope, can't have the time off we're too busy here for you to go. So what am I doing at the very moment when I could be sitting watching the Foos play... Nothing. It's dead as a graveyard... I hate my job and everything associated with it.
I guess that's what I get for trying to be nice and actually 'ask' for time off rather than just calling in sick like usual. |

I dig the Foos!
I didn't get the chance to see em yet, but the intimacy with the audience that you describe is what I have missed at other shows like those of the red hot chili peppers or Incubus for example.
Sugar Ray was cool since Marc McRath came up to me and shook my hand. To bad their music is kinda gay...
I definately have to see the foos...dave is great! _________________ ... I'm getting there..! |
