Download here: THA - Pursuit.mp3 (~4.19mb)
'm just gonna call it Funky-Tech Big Beat with some orchestral strings and brass. Yeah, that's it.
This was mainly an exercise in things I haven't tried before to see if they'd actually make a difference in the end. Stuff like making the drums sounds longer during louder/heavier parts and shorter/jumpier during quieter parts. slowly raising volume levels on background synths, making sounds duller during quiet parts and brighter during louder parts...and uhh...stuff. Yeah.
It's all an EEEE-lluuUuusion! *waves arms in the air* wo0o0ooo You can't see meee!!! AAHa hahfhAha hAH(48@9348!!#!#@##! ooeneo neon@!( 9~~!!!!!
Hope you like it. |

I like. Later in the track after you introduced the strings, I was hoping to hear the cool electronic beat come back full force, with the strings playing a killer short-bow spicatto type riff, and the horns blasting majestically, and the electronic bleeps and squelches going too with lots of filter/envelop automations. But it never happened.
I've been doing a lot of electronica/orchestral mixtures myself, and it's always been a mixture that I loved. I think the guys who do the music for UT 2003/2004 are really good at it. I think the first time I heard that style done really well was back about 15 years ago, there was a TV series (drama) that was produced by Rober Dinero--the opening theme was a nice mixture of electronica and orchestral. Even back then I had longed for talented composers to make more use of electronica and combine the two styles. |

I am listening to it right now,...and,...I must say,...I love it!!
Very different to your other stuff. Great work man, as usual!
The part between 2:00 and 3:20 is WONDERFUL! MORE!!!
The drums at the end are also great,....
I too remembered the UT soundtrack at times.
Nice man! |

Thanks. :D
Luna: Maybe a part 2 some day. :]
Max: Wheee, Thanks! Yeah, I liked the UT music. It was done by some Music Tracker veterans such as Skaven and Future Crew. The UT files were just Impulse Tracker files. |

I'm liking this very much! Good stuff.
You know what Skaven is up to these days: he's been working at Remedy Entertainment doing animations and some gfx for Max Payne titles. Multitalented guy. |

Spicatto is a bowing term. Think: very short staccato. It's basically just bouncing the bow and allowing maybe.. 1-2mm of bow to pull the string. _________________ QED, sort of. |
