Has anyone seen the movie/miniseries "Mr. Murder" with Stephen Baldwin? It's my favourite Koontz book and they have a tendency of completely utterly destroying his books on film so i wonder if i should see it or pass it... anyone?

What was the movie with Ben Aflick about an animal that was made of oil or something?
I think it was a Dean Koontz book, but the film was terrible.

el tigre, no that's Phantoms. Different thing. Good book, movie not-so-good...
Spitfire, I fear the worst. The book was great, but please DO watch the series and then tell me is any good.
PS. I thought Hideaway was actually a pretty good movie in its own right. Never compare a movie to the book it's based on, always pales in comparison. Always treat movies as independent entities, INSPIRED by books. Nothing else.

Okay. I watched it. I like Stephen Baldwin, he has had his good moments, but this movie blows goats. NOTHING of the book was left intact, the acting was terrible, camera shots were like you find them in the instruction manual that comes with the camera and background music was nonexistent.
Koontz fans : DONT WATCH. Guaranteed disgust and extensive vomiting will result.
Count : Yes, i thought hideaway was a nice movie as well. The stereotypical industral-kid sacrificing himself to satan was damn funny and the standoff at the end between good and evil was pretty Koontz. Not a fan of Goldblum though...yuck.
Have you seen watchers? Heheheh worst movie ever. I cant believe Koontz ever wanted to be associated with that. He says himself that 'Watchers 4' is his worst nightmare
'The Face of Fear' (a pretty old koontz) was quite nice as well. No suspense or story, but a nice acting psycho. "They went upstairs, didnt they Johnny?!!"
Oh well. Ill stick to the boox. Just finished "False Memory" (2 days, 600+ pages). Great typically koontz-story. |

spitfire,
don't you think that Koontz books are pretty much all the same. A coupla years ago I read like 6 of his books in a row, I enjoyed the first 4 but then they became repetitive. Some fairly interesting ideas but you can see wots gonna happen fairly early on in the book.
Try some Iain Banks, "The Wasp Factory"...I was NOT expecting that ending.
Cheers

I seek simple entertainment in my books, no mind-boggling endings in which the midget gardener DID kill the waitress
Ill check the guy out though... |
