First off, I almost wrote the subject title of "what's up, doc?" for whatever strange, strange, strange reason o.O Anyway - hey everyone, again, long time no see and all that jazz :) Sorry I'm not around much, but last time I tried to post, Sijun wasn't even alive D:

New picture, yes, and I think I learned a bit or two with it - I'm sure some of you have seen it elsewhere, but I thought I'd share anyway.

[edit] Dude, I forgot to say - click my homepage link for larger sized wallpaper versions of this picture :)

The melody of your demise:

Tales speak of how Mehach, Goddess of Death, used to visit the world of Aii Chriaston in the past. She would herself step down from her ebony keep, and gently weave and coax souls from their discarded shells - and legends speak of how she, when gathering souls from a battlefield, met a wounded, but still breathing young man by the name of Ereyon.

Ereyon was beautiful in a way the Goddess had never seen before - she had seen beauty in Gods, but here, she saw beauty in life. In his pulse, in the beat of his heart, and she came to love him - and he came to love her.

She visited him every night, and every night they kissed. For nearly a year, they were together, but Ereyon had a secret he did not share with his mistress. Though her presence when she was with him was dimmed down - she was still Death, and she was slowly killing him. Rather than telling her, and losing what little time he had left with her, he kept quiet, and wasted away. Mehach was blinded by her love for him and suspected nothing until the day he actually died - and she felt his passing from her throne.

He did not come to her, though, as souls should. He clung to his grave and haunted the cemetery at night. Mehach called for him but he would not come - so she was forced to go down to him once again.

He did not want to go to the ebony keep, because he knew that then he would lose his memories and his love for her - he would lose what he had left. Haunting the cemetery, at least, would let him remember what they had shared.

Mehach spent the night in the graveyard, playing her harp - weaving patterns of his soul through her fingers, until, quiet as the wraith he was, he could no longer resist... and floated towards her, kissing her cheek - and she kissed him in return and thus stole his memories, and his love, and all that he once was... truly stealing his life before taking him back to the dark keep.

It is said that after this incident, after the tragic death of Ereyon, the Goddess of Death has never been seen on Aii Chriaston again.

Beautiful image. Lovely smooth blues and greys. I have saved it as my desktop background. Studying it inch by inch, it's fantastic.

What Can I say!

very Impressive Enayla! Very Very nice mood. Perfect for the setting! I'd love to see you do something involving a deep blue lagoon in this color scheme with sanken treasure and weapons being guarded by ghosts. Anyways I might do something like that. Again Pleasure to look at.

Cheers!

Mmm..

Gorgeous image.. Though now I'm left thoroughly depressed. Perhaps it is not the image and the tale alone that do this, but I can tell you that with Godspeed trickling through the speakers, I can't even hold back the tears.

*grin*

Lovely. That dress is beautiful. I love the way it flows.

If I'm correct, I can see an evolution in your style. It's always nice to have a story to your images as well. Truly a haunting one. Nice to see your work again.

Oh my, I am finding out everyday how bad I suck at painting, anyway, someday I am gonna make it.
The painting is beautiful, how do you get it so smooth? do you paint everything with low opacity and if so do you start out with low opacity too?

ok that was many questions, hope it is ok.
Keep up the good work
Matthew

Incredible, definitely your best yet. Took me a minute to notice the ghost on her shoulder, which I think was perfectly executed.

gArGOyLe^: Thank you :] I try my little best.

Shanx: Thanks :) I've worked only (or almost only) with green colours for a while, I suppose I'm back in my blue colours again :)

Mon: Thank you :D

NeFF: Mm, you're probably right. I was trying for a certain look but maybe it didn't get across :) Thankee for crit and comment.

crazybread: Damn, mistyped your name thrice. First 'crazyhead', then 'crazybed', then 'crazybead', and then finally the real version. Heeh. Your idea sounds very interesting, but I'm kind of working on a little something right now.

A little preview for you (just concept sketches on the designs)

see: Thanks :] I'm happy to hear I've developed a recognisable style :D

Timid: Aw, sorry to have helped make you sad ;} Glad you like the picture though.

Tomasis: :D

themagicpen: Thankee :D

tilokani: *bows* Cheers!

paranoid?: Thankee :}

Spooky: I'm trying to go somewhere with the style, yes :) Glad you've noticed. Always received criticism on the characters looking stiff and posed, so I'm trying to get away from that, among other things. Thank you :)

Matthew: It doesn't quite look so smooth up close. I used to use smudge a lot but I don't anymore - I paint with very light strokes instead. Looking up close, you can see the strokes, but in smaller versions they're virtually invisible. With the pen pressure set at opacity, I don't have to turn the opacity down manually :] Thank you :)

Bob: :) Thanks!

Freddio: I'm glad to be back :] Thanks!

Finer: Aw, thank you :D

Tinusch: Thank you very kindly. I tried to make the ghost... incorporated into the picture in a way that'd make at least a few people not notice him straight off. Glad I've succeeded :)

that is BEAUTIFUL!
every drawing you do has something in it that makes it special, imo, and i love to stare all around them for hours.

about the second and third images, do you do this kind of "study" for every drawing you make? if so, its insane. it looks like every one of them takes hours, yet at the end you only present one.(?) show them all, always! ;]

weeeeeeeee

Well, im impressed you always paint those "real beautiful" faces - no time i could not feel the love - im sure i could fall in love with every woman you paint, and i can truly understand how Ereyon have to feel to be in this quandary.

And well, every Picture of yours would be worth a poster in my very room - extralarge! Wink
