hey, calm down I can explain!! I'm just lowsy at characters, I was a bit HERO inspired(great movie BTW) and painted this one yesterday, I should have posted it at WIP section, but I leave it like this, and I would appreschiate some crits, and if I have the energy I'll change the errors...
Well practise makes perfect, and crits are like nitro tubes to get there =)
Thanx!

hey
I see what you are good at.. that is backround, colours and things.
now I must say what I think about the face.. please try to fix the eyes so it could look more normal.. does it supposed to be a asian girl ?
clothes look a little strange.. try make it more "thick and natural" but keep them blowing (as you try)
how did you have luck to get watercolour effect?

the upper portions of her head seem really big... like the skull expands the higher you go up.
Yeah the closer arm needs a little foreshortening... but that might be hard to change at this point.
And something about the way she pulls on the bow looks off...
I see that you're trying to make the arrow be pointed downwards... but the position of the bow, her arm.. etc, conflict with the path of the arrow you're proposing.
Anyways it still looks great.. nice work. _________________ http://jcaart.cjb.net |

Very nice pic!
To the crits. I think that the lower part of her head (jaw and mouth area) seem to be a bit deformed. |

You're right, Flushy. I just vomited all over my keyboard, so thanks allot. Naw, just kidding. It's not bad at all. Since you axed:
Her right arm is too skinny, at the top and especially the hand as it gets closer to us. And I think you could fix up the drawing in the face, fix the eyes and so forth. But the main thing that bothers me is the overall pose. It's too bunched up, IMO. There are opportunites that would allow you to show the positions of the major masses: the neck, the rib cage (and failing that, the space between her chest armor and pelvis), the left arm (which is totally hidden), and her legs may look better farther apart.
The rendering I love. It's nice and colorful, breaking the current trend of monochromatic images that's so popular Aside from the nitpicking I've done, I love it. |

Here's a little paintover with some fixes for you Flush. :> As my painting is
on the same level of skill as a heap of carrots, I used copy/paste to tweak it.
Still, it's a good thing your art doesn't suck half as bad as your self-
confidence, ey? The latter makes you feel good though, but it doesn't
pay the bills as nicely as killer talent. :D

yeah the hand holding the bow needs to be sorted out perspective wize...think about how big her hand would be if she placed it on her face and then imagine it stretched right out towards the viewer...just how i would work it out _________________ www.ARCIPELLO.com |

Thanx yall for da crits!
yes the head is a little balloony, and the forshortening of the arm is not very good, but I'm satisfied witht he eyes,
What do you mean with more "normal" ? I think they look asian but very stylized maybe...? oh well I might try somethign with em.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the paintover Anima! she looks alot better now!
-Hoodz-: thank you, it's very different, I turn off opacity sometimes, it depends of what I want to paint, tree branches are smarter to paint with size on ONLY, to get the sharpnes. just mix and play with em |

What I didn't expect (when I saw the upper half of the image) was that the ground is @ such a weird angle.
I like everything else about the image.
Just practise and keep posting the results

oh haha thanx Twise! I feel very unsure of characters and that makes me not wanting to practise on them, an that makes me suck even more, happy that you like it though, I can admit that I don't think I can do any better than this, but I'll practise for sure!
ArcPello, thanx alot for the tip! I got 1000s of those little tricks to learn hahaha.
Andy T: I flipped the image and saw what I had done, made me puke a little bit more =/ I'll think of that next time |

You're such a damn genius with your color selection. It's very upsetting to me.
The only crit I have with it is that her upper legs are too long. Don't know if that was already mentioned, didn't take the time to fully read through everyone's comments.
Anyhoo, very imaginative, very skillfully executed, etc,, etc....
Makes me feel like shit about my own work every time I see yours.
Keep up the extraordinary work.

Flushy, dude, the only thing you really suck at is estimating the true value of your pHr3KInG g00D w0rkz0rz. In fact, the only thing that could bother me is her right arm which's not perfectly rendered considering the perspective, just like a lot of peeps already mentioned. BUT LOOK AT THAT INSANE STYLE OF YUORZ!!1 YUO AR3 133^H^H^H^NOT BAD AT ALL!!1 _________________

Damn! When I read the post title I was kind of half hoping you really had done something sucky, but, of course, it's a very nice portrayal The hand does look a little small, I think. The colours are really gorgeous. _________________ Saturnfive Design |

Wow amazing colors, I had to try out a paint-over. Maybe I screwed it up, I changed the face a whole lot.

Um
I kinda liked the original picture's hair better. This last one looks like she got hit with a tornado in the head. Also, her nose looks like it's bleeding or something. |

Umm, yea. Stop hacking up great artists' work, Matthew. I've seen you do it to Captain, HPX, and Andrew Jones. Just stop it. |

Everyone on Sijun is free to use paintovers as a way of demonstrating suggestions - it's encouraged even.
It is up to the original artist to decide who's suggestions he/she wants to take ideas from. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

I agree with Sumaleth, I appreshiate ALL paintovers, even if they are not exactly what the original artist was going for. People do paintovers to be nice, it's kinda like giving the artist a compliment and suggestions, pure Kindness!
Matthew: thanx for the overpaint, but I was trying to make her asian. But I agree that the skirt might need some work, I'm gonna give it a little more 3D!
Malachi M: thanx ! I se what you mean, I had them shorter before and tried to fix it, I sure need to work on them.
EssenmitSosse: hahahah I pardon you
[666]Flat: thanx man, I could hire you for saying more of that stuff I'll fix the arm, promise !
JR: Exellent point! your overpaint makes her look so much better!! I'll fix that as soon as I can! |

that isn't true, captain, isn't it??! if you were 12 years old when jurassic park came out, then you are not older than 22 today- are you sure, that you didn't mix up any dates or movies...? _________________ known as "ChrisNix" elsewhere. |
