I know that Playboy does a lot of touch up work on photos to make the models look "perfect" and I am sure that's not the only place it happens. My question is, it using the airbrush tool in Photoshop really the best one to do touch up work on a photograph? Can any suggest some other methods for removing wrinkles, cracks, and imperfections, that looks natural when done?

http://www.adobe.com/web/tips/psmagazine/pdf/psmag.pdf

you need a pdf viewer to see this file

there are hundreds of ways to touch old photo's, bring out highlights, remove crachs,. whatever.. the easiest is of course the airbrush <personal opinion> the others require use of channels, filters, and other brushes

Check it out baby.. this picture was really bad quality JPG before, then i put it in PS added some more metal things (above) redrew colors and made them brighter, cleaned up Flea's skin, added smoke, added cooler looking amps. I used airbrush tool a lot with diff effects. Unfortunately i dont have the original crappy pic, but its somewhere on redhotchilipeppers.com

hope it helped a bit
