Anyone know of any really excellent books on design fundamentals (line, composition, color theory, typography, etc)?? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

A default for any library but very hard to come by (out of print but it can be found):

Mueller Brockmann's Grid Systems for Graphic Design

Study the movements of Constructivism and de Stijl

Bringhurst's The Elements of Typographical Style

Subscribe to "Communication Arts" and "Print"

Effectively communicating the message, whether it's a PSA for AIDS or selling soap, is paramount. Watch how others do it.
