I might enter if I have time. The toys are cool, I'd like to add em to my collection. Wink

However, I don't know if a set of toys will be enough of an incentive to bring a lot of folks from sijun... But hey, who knows...

Still, a cool contest idea. When's the deadline (or did I miss that part on your boards)?

Jay~ Nothing wrong with the prize dude, I personally think it's dope, but to snag some of the "big talent" around here you're talking about involving artists who draw/paint for a living in most cases. Artists who are already slammed with work and deadlines looming over head (something I'm sure you're personally familiar with).

To get them to take part, you might want to try to offer some kind of painting or modeling software... Maybe some pricey or hard-to-find art books. Listen, I'm getting carried away here.... And I certainly don't expect you to furnish these expensive prizes yourself. Try getting a hold of some companies that make said items, maybe they'd be interested in donating some prizes to promote there produces to artists who could be potential consumers.

I don't know, I'm pretty much just talking out of my ass here, because I can't speak for the thousands of other artists who come to sijun, I can only speak for myself and speculate as to the general consensus of opinion on stuff around here...

Like I said before, I dig the prize partna and I'll be sure to enter if I can. Smile

Anyways...

Take it easy,
~M~

Sup Jay,

I used to check out your work on the spawn website, I mainly check the sports board but I like to check out the comics section every-once-in-a-while. Does Twisted spine still do his artist profile thingy. I liked that. You used to be roomates w/ Drew, right? how is that dude doing? Well man take care. Oh before I forget, A few of my students are becoming fans of your work. They have been interested in doing some 'dark' work. I told them to check out the spawn site and see if they could find some inspiraartion. They mentioned some of your work Just thought you would like to know bro. take care.

Hey bro- Drew and I still live together(not in that way, not there's anything wrong with that....just housemates), he's doing fine. I'm in the process of moving into my new house with my lady friend(in that way). Twisted a little busy these days, you'll still see him on the site....he's a good man.
That's cool about your students, what do you teach? Make sure to get them involved with the contest, make it an art project. I'll be more than happy to give them some pointers, drop me a line and let me know. J

Good to hear everyone is doing good. Good luck w/ the Lady and your new house.

I teach Drawing and Ceramics here in Central California. Funny you mention this contest for my students; we are doing something similar in my drawing classes. Last week we had a project called 'Fusion': they take at least 3 different types animals and fuse them together a-la-mad scientist. Some cool stuff coming from those kids. This weeks project is called 'Monster Garage' I know, I know I ripped off that discoverey Channel shows title. But, they must then combine an animal and a type of vehicle. Again cool ideas coming from these kids. I'll be getting some kids to do a gorilla upper body fused w/ the bottom ofa tank. T-rex legs attached to a helicopter, Boats with big @$$ wings etc. I'm pumped about it and so are my students

i may pass this contest on to my second year students, as they may have the most time to work on something. C-ya

Now that's cool! If I were a teacher, I would do the same suff....gatta keep the kids motivated and coming up with cool projects to do is the way to go. I try to pull that off with my contests.
