Victory is a simplified version of Decay, but tells an entirely different story. In today's world (political) climate it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out.

cool stuff!

I like this one, but I think it lacks just a little bit deapth, it might be because the model/statue doesn't seem to be that much affected by the orange light, well, I made an overpaint to explain what I mean, this is just one way to do it, so don't take it too seriously =)

basically what I did was adding some color dodge orange everywhere, and darkened the statue with blac in an overlay layer.

keep up the good work

good call on the lighting.

I think the hips and calves are a too wide. Nice picture in any case.

It's funny that no one commented on the concept. I got it. It's nice seeing some smart work here once in a while.

it's a tragedy that concepts as simple as this go overlooked by world powers.

this is hardly democracy.

Concepts seem to be at a premium these days and I do appreciate those who look at the art work for what it is. As for the two captains I'm not sure what to make of the lighting issue. Although I do agree that the main figure could have been put into a more dramatic light I can only disagree with the mock-up that was submitted. The main figure isn't the soul conveyer of the image's message. It's the rendering as a whole. If you look at Captain FlushGarden's revamp, the message of the image is lost. Even with a little extra flame here and there, and the addition of some extra color highlights, the idea of the rendering is gone; it's become mired in an annoying orange cast. There is no longer any turbulence in the sky and the character is without definition; nothing sets him apart from his surroundings...the model's details have also become lost and the scene no longer works. In addition the small piece of turf that our hero is standing on is the last refuge; the last piece of unscorched earth. It may also be our characters last chance to look outward before he too is consumed...

If I were to follow the advice of the two captains I would simply dismantle the scene and place the model into the middle of a virtual room and light him on fire. Viola, just another 3D render with a bunch of cool effects without the burden of concept or symbolism. To me art without a message or the slightest hint of a story or a little intrique/tension is boring. You can be technically perfect but without any one of these elements...well, enough said.

Very best to all,
Ron Wink
