OK, I need some advice about buying a monitor calibration system such as ColorVision's Spyder. I'm a colorist for comic books and I've noticed that my work is printing lighter than it appears on my monitor. It's not bad enough to ruin the image, but of course the closer the better. I've rerun Adobe Gamma and tried to get things looking right, but quite honestly I don't trust my eyes with that damn thing. Have any of you used a calibration system like ColorVision's Spyder? Are they worth it?
I asked this question on another board and the only replies I got where suggestions about color profile settings in Photoshop... this is not what I want to know. If a product like this can help me get more accurate color it's worth it, I just want to hear from someone who's used one. Was it worth the money? _________________ Jaysin |

Now, I could be thinking about this all wrong, but can you explain to me how my brightness being too high would make my images look darker on my screen than in print? Wouldn't that make it the other way around? _________________ Jaysin |

The spyder is very highly regarded as a calibration tool. In your particular case if you need absolutely accurate colour then a hardware based solution is the best way to go. If you shop around you might still be able to get the CRT only version of the Spyder at a knock-down price. _________________ www.itchy-animation.co.uk
