I'm planning on doing a painting of one of the cantos/scenes from The Inferno, for a project. So far I've thought of painting Virgil and Dante hiding behind some boulders, while the Minotaur stomps around looking for them. It doesn't seem like it will be too interesting. Does any body have any ideas on what cantos/scenes from the poem would look best represented as a painting? _________________ "So...remember, whenya put down one mutha, you puttun down muthas all ovah da worhl." - Mr. T |

there are a lot of parts....the endless line of robed figures marching on top of the man crucified to the ground....each stepping on him in turn.
i can think of a lot...cerberus...the couple in love...the boat crossing the river...you name it...charon....
pick one that you identify with...that you see...feel...and see in your mind.

I think that all the Divina Comedia would make great pictures.
Just thinking of Virgil showing the 7 circles to Paradise is a great theme, but I guess it is nearly impossible to paint... _________________ _ _ _____ _ _

the field of something or other (also featured in the movie What Dreams May Come), where there are people in the ground that Dante steps on (and thus swoons as usual)
if done right the circle of the greedy people vs the squandering people can be pretty cool... in nice washed out greens and a kind of "The Cell" grittyness... mm yes =) _________________ Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari? |

I'd love to do the greedy people against the squanderers, but I'm on a time constraint (this Wednesday). I'm thinking I'm going to do the part where Virgil and Dante come up to the Wall of Dis, big towers and everything. I might even add in the three furies, but I don't know how they were supposed to look like. I hope I can dish out a decent pic ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ "So...remember, whenya put down one mutha, you puttun down muthas all ovah da worhl." - Mr. T |
