Se tra buio un fantasma vedrai
Bianco, lieve, che geme e sospira
Sar Elvira che s'aggira,
E ti grida: Io son morta per te.
--Bellini, "I Puritani"
This is two things--a Hanged Man tarot card, and my idea of how Bellini's "I Puritani" should've ended. I mean, who ever heard of an opera (other than the comic variety) where nobody dies? That tacked-on happy ending really sucks. Elvira should die, dammit, and then Arturo should kill himself too...and maybe he should even kill Riccardo first for good measure!
Anyway, in THIS picture, it is a revenant which has come back from the grave, still imagining it's her wedding day. _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Oh, duh, sorry. It means: "If, in the darkness, you see a ghost, white and fragile, which moans and sighs, it will be Elvira who is wandering and crying 'I am dead because of you.'" _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

I always am looking forward to your art and this one is beuatifull.
first of al the details in the clothes are very nice.
the pose is even better.
but I also agree with max that the nose could be a bit sharper.

Jumps to the top of my favorite Socar Myles pictures. Very absorbing!
It would make a great Taro card. Are you creating a set? _________________ HonePie.com

eyewoo - Thank you--glad you like it! No, I'm not making a set...I just made the one for the Epilogue tarot project. A set would take me forever--there are a LOT of cards in those things!
merlynz - Thank you! Glad you like the clothes--they took me ages to figure out...I was wearing a T-shirt in the reference photo ( http://www.gorblimey.com/rubbish/refface.jpg , no laughing at my shirt or expression ).
Mas Kulich - Glad you like it! That is a good point about the nose, and I had not noticed it. Thanks for pointing it out.
tyron - Thanks very much...I am working on drawing more dynamic poses.
dontfallin - Thanks...I'm always wanting to improve! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Great work Socar.
One of the best figures you've painted, IMHO.
