well... i'm fairly new to this forum and i think it's absolutely wonderful (i only wish i had come across it a lot earlier). i thought i'd post some sketches i've done to get some feedback on how i can improve, what i'm doing wrong, etc. in order to keep bad habits to a minimum. i tried to rank the following images in order of completion decending from the most recent.
the following two i did the other day after reading around this forum and looking around on the web for resources.
self portrait - picture reference:
my eye - mirror reference
i did this one about 3 months ago, well before i came across this forum...
erica - picture reference:
the following are sketches that i found on my computer from my highschool days about 3-6 years ago. as you can see i don't sketch very often but i do plan on drawing more which is why i want some feedback. i can't wait to get a computer tablet so i can draw on the computer.
my hands - real life reference (high school assignment)
erica in a truck - reference for the face only:
halloween drawing - no reference:
my old shoes - real life reference:
anyways, i would love to hear any suggestions and criticisms you might have.
thanx a lot,

the hands sketch is good.
the mouth of the woman in one of the sketches is odd. it should be moved inwards into the face. it is sticking out too much.
color them |

You have good skills and distinctive insight.
My suggestion with your self protrait is the ear seemed somewhat too big. This is not a profile, so it may seemed more "narrow" from the front view. And you may add hair after the ear. Any way, this is not a big problem. Selfprotraits are always hard to make.
And I like the eye, I cant do that good with pencil. GOOD WORK. |

I noticed that the skill displayed from areas that show that you are using a refrence are awsome. As for the rest, neh! Continue working from life. That will help you with drawing from imagination. _________________ ICQ # 84220724
