waiting for delivery of wacon tablet, my pooter has 500 processor and 384 of ram. Is this sufficient for Photoshop7 and wacon tablet? This will be mainly used to photo image manipulation. I cant upgrade ram any more but if I change for faster processor maybe 2 gig, I can get buckets full more ram. I'm new to all this, and this will be my first tablet, I could seriously do with help and advice!! Many thanks, Dave in good old overpriced England |

Isn't there a huge price slump for DDR rams recently? Perhaps you could upgrade to 1gb or so. PS was quite ram intensive. |

If you are going to do photomanipulation for print work - like for magazines - then you're going to need that 2 gig processor and 2 gig of RAM. For example, working with an 8.5" x 11" image at 300 ppi, it is not uncommon to watch Photoshop gobble up 1.5 to well over 2 gig of RAM.... which essentially means that Photoshop is also using it's scratch disk. Sooo.... it helps to also have a dedicated drive with about 10 gig of empty space and assign Photoshop's scratch disk to it. _________________ HonePie.com

Get as much memory as you can possibly afford - sell the lawnmower, pets - whatever it takes, and see about amping up that 500 mhz cpu too. Here's some more useful info:
