Hi everyone!
There is a new daily sketch group at http://edderkop.minidns.net/dsg/
This one is special, because all tasks are fully automated using php/mysql.
We're currently looking for more creative people who'd like to join the daily scribbling fun.
For those who are not familiar with daily sketching groups:
- a random theme is chosen automatically every day
- everyone gets 90 minutes to draw, sketch, paint sn original piece of art
- after posting the entries, you are allowed to see other people's entries in the archive.
Special features about this sketching group:
- You can participate any time of the day. An individual countdown begins when you request the topic.
- Theme choosing and theme suggestions are fully automated. Everyone can suggest a theme.
- see all the pictures on one page or browse the comments.
- member profiles, private messages, bad webdesign. we've got everything!
see you when you get there. _________________ automated daily sketching group @ http://edderkop.minidns.net/dsg/ |

Some things are weird there.
Is it possible to automatically add the name in the "an:" field when somebody clicks the "send me a pm" link?
It links to:
http://edderkop.minidns.net/dsg/pm.php?user=ravn
But isn't:
http://edderkop.minidns.net/dsg/pm.php?to=ravn
correct?
Also it's possible to request the same topic more then once.
There should at least be a note that a picture has already been submitted.
I think it should be disabled ... that makes more sense.
You could work on a 2nd image longer then 90 minutes because you already know the topic.
But I like it. I'll participate when I have the time. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

hmmm...
no.
DSG was started by myself on Http://www.conceptart.org/forums/ with the idea taken from an old group, whom i will credit to the following users: speed3d, opticnerve, myself and a few others.
I find it a bit disrespectful to do the same exact thing as what i did only about 3 weeks after one was just started and originated.
You may have the php knowledge to make your DSG into a website, but you completely stole the idea. |

The implementation is quite nice. However:
a) You could've changed the name. Calling it DSG is a blatant rip.
b) It is identical in rules and requirements to the one on Conceptart.
c) It's a free world (well, sadly, for some more than others). Nonetheless, alot of guys worked hard on the DSG, it would've been nice to credit them.
Anyway, nice work on the web thing. Hope it goes okay. |

@davi, ceenda: i'm sorry. i did not realize that this was such a recent idea. of course i am going to give credit and set a link to your dsg.
i believed that "daily sketching group" was more of a generic description of what's done there.
the original name was different, but i didn't come up with a decent translation when creating the english interface.
@all: do you have an idea how i could call it?
@andy: thank you for the suggestions. i am going to implement your ideas.
and: you are right, the link was wrong. _________________ automated daily sketching group @ http://edderkop.minidns.net/dsg/ |
