Just a couple of days ago I "discovered" Jeff Jones' oil paintings. He's got a great site at http://www.ulster.net/~jonesart/, check him out if you haven't already. He has a way of mixing Klimt with Frazetta that really strikes a chord with me. Though he's got bad habits of his own, but who hasn't?
He inspired me to do this one:
Comments and crits are welcome.

the subject of the piece is beautifully done---the value is really eye catching--very clean also with the lighting on the back of him and wutnot
---i've noticed a lot that people tend to focus on only certain areas of a piece when doing one and in doing so,..they block out usually the background or something that isn't in the foreground...bah...so what im getting at is that in yours, it seems like you focused on the man [obviously] most of all. well some of the things i think you blocked out from doing them to your full extent was the ground under him--it probably doesnt matter to you but oh well :D it simply looks far too straight across and not imperfect enough..it sorta looks like a bear rug---jagged-ness or rocks would help---the fog could use some work also....inspiring piece though!!
jeffry jones is awesome---he's in the 'spectrum 8' it's a book of fantasty art--you should look it up- there's so many different artists with so many different styles --------ok sorry for talking so much--later _________________ www.andresguzman.com

Thanks man, great input! I see it too now, the ground should NOT be soft and rug-like. I'll fix it up. I had some problems with the color of the ground and cliffside to the characters right. yeah, this one needs an update...
Cheers!
